With all the action Spring has been providing on the basketball scene it's important to find time to look forward to the future too. Time flies fast, so getting ahead to see what's happening next is paramount in this space. What's interesting about some of the region's underclassmen is that a lot of them are already considerable contributors despite their young age. These players are next up, the next wave, so to say. This is a discussion revolved around '28 and '29 players that should be recognized at this moment. Below are 5 underclassmen on the rise this May.

Elwood brings so much to the table as playmaking point guard. She has expectational positional instincts and contributes to winning plays on a consistent basis. Not prone to a lot of turnovers even through a primary ballhandler either; Elwood is quite efficient with the ball in her hands. The passing and ability to break down the tough defenders all while having an overall command of the offense makes her a significant ingredient to her team's success. Jordyn can thrive in any style of game as well as any tempo. Her all-round ability flourishes in just about any scenario.

Potential is the first word that comes to mind with Jordan. She has the physical tools and athleticism to naturally have an effect on the game right now, but also has some other interesting traits to her. She only played a half season after recovering from illness as well as an injury, but she showed flashes of true promise in a short time. Camilla is starting to hit full stride and she's certainly a player worth keeping an eye on.

Kiera means business. She's a nonsense type of player that does a bit of everything, but she does it at a high-level. The shrewd lefty can create her own shot from various spots on the floor, gets to the midrange, unlike many players in her class at the moment, understands when to deliver timely passes, gets to the basket efficiently and plays aggressive defense. With so many young players getting college attention now, it'll be no time before Kiera starts getting reached out from coaches.

The fresh transfer is a phenomenal prospect within the '29 class. Her 2-way tactics are founded on athleticism and fueled by a very high motor. She can impact both sides of the ball plus she gives forth extreme effort in all the critical moments of a game. The passion she displays in her game is refreshing to see. Kyleigh's competitiveness can't be contained; she's ready to go toe to toe with anyone.

[player_tooltip player_id='1246634' first='Sabrina' last='Vesey'] (2029) | PG | BCRI

An instant impact point guard that'll carry the torch within a very talented BCRI club for a long time. Vesey is young, but her game is mature. The '29 rising star has a knack for getting deep penetration that demands the defense's attention. She puts pressure on defenders from crafted takes off the bounce and keeps aggressive players at bay with a plethora of counters. Sabina can finish a bunch of ways from various levels on the floor. In addition, her speed makes it hard to fully contain her in tight spaces. Her decisive decision-making can also throw those guarding her for a loop if they think they've got a good grasp on her. She can operate in screen actions and has also shown the ability to keep players in "jail", a trait that most '29 players don't have in their skillset just yet. There're so many bright areas to her game, it'll be exciting to see Vesey's development through the rest of the season. BCRI has a good one on their hands.
