There are a handful of names that I still want to highlight from the Legacy Region Finals in Appleton over the weekend. I was focusing on the younger age levels in Appleton, and the 14U games were at Wrightstown High School and the Champions Center.

The Franklin native had an odd first high school season. Cabrera played around half the game I watched against Oak Creek late in the season and played a platoon role with the other talented 2028 guard the Sabers had. I've always liked her game and thought there was a solid player in there, and even when her team was beaten this past weekend by a team they probably shouldn't have been playing, she found ways to make a few plays with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='888427' first='Macy' last='Karl']

The Slinger wing is an intriguing prospect for a few reasons. The wing is a physical kid who can play through contact around the basket and be among the more powerful kids in the North Shore next season. Karl led the Owls in scoring last season and did an excellent job, given the frantic pace that some of the North Shore teams play with. There are still plenty of things Karl can improve, but she was one of the players I was most impressed with in the North Shore last season, given her situation.

[player_tooltip player_id='900147' first='Madeline' last='Brown']

I didn't know who Brown was entering the event, but she was the 14U player who jumped out to me the most. The Appleton native handled the ball well and had a smooth offensive game. Brown beat her initial defender off the dribble multiple times and attacked defenses with a numerical advantage. Her ability to create advantages for herself and her team opened up her teammates on the perimeter because defenders had to cut her off from getting a clear lane to the basket.

The Janesville native is among the most talented kids in her class. The 2028 graduate is an athletic kid who can make her presence known on both ends of the floor. She's a three-level scorer on the offensive end and does an excellent job playing passing lanes in her team's press. The Janesville Craig guard has excellent defensive instincts and reads passing lanes well. She's a productive offensive player and can score 20 points on any given day, but what she can do on the defensive end may be what coaches love most about her.
