The Janesville native is a talented wing who adds versatility to any lineup she plays in. Stevens is an athletic kid who can move her feet defensively and force live-ball turnovers. Offensively, she can create with the ball, get downhill, knock down jumpers, and make plays for others. She’s a kid who doesn’t need to score 20 to impact winning, and coaches will love that about her.
The Janesville native is among the most talented kids in Wisconsin, and showed why in Mequon on Sunday morning. Stevens was one of the most fluid athletes in the building and made most of the skills work look easy. I thought she looked comfortable in every setting she was put in. I also liked how comfortable she was finishing with her off-hand whenever she needed.
The 2028 class in Wisconsin is loaded, and Stevens is part of what makes that class special. The Janesville native is a two-way wing who competes every second she’s on the floor. She has shown she can attack the basket and score in bunches. However, her length and athleticism, paired with her motor on the defensive end, will be what will peak coaches’ interest. She has not looked out of place on her Team Prime Nation
group playing 17U EYBL basketball, and she keeps improving.
Yana caught my eye on day one when she dished out a sweet no-look bounce pass to a teammate and switched hands in the lane to score a stretch layup in traffic. She continued to impress in the Gold Championship Game for Team Prime Nation
17U on Sunday. Yana attacked downhill on a determined drive to the basket, absorbed contact, then finished the and-one layup with her left. She knocked down the free throw to complete the three-point play. Yana handled the ball well under pressure and continued to attack, using a quick pocket dribble before slashing to the basket and earning another trip to the free-throw line. Her length and sharp instincts on the defensive end produced multiple steals. Yana was an effective facilitator, active on the boards, aggressive, competitive, and her confidence showed in the toughest matchup.
Playing an age level up on the 17u EYBL circuit is a good way to catch coaches’ attention, and I’m sure that’s exactly what the Janesville product will do this spring and summer. Stevens can impact the game on both ends of the floor and is a versatile player. She can play on or off ball, defend multiple positions, score from all three levels, and her grit will be noticeable. She can swing a game, and even though she may not be the focal point for her AAU team, she will have a role to play in a potential EYBL run.
The Janesville native is an intriguing prospect who can play multiple positions and adds plenty of versatility defensively. Stevens is a player who can create problems for any defense she lines up against, because there aren’t many one-for-one matchups. She has the speed to turn the corner on most defenders, and space the floor if teams want to keep her out of the lane. I also love the pride she takes defensively and how instinctive she is on that end of the floor. There is a lot to like about what she brings to the floor.
The Janesville native is an athletic two-way guard with a bright future. Her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor allows her to be an impact player who can make game-changing plays at any time. I was impressed by her when I watched her play this spring and summer. The Craig rising sophomore is a player who will be a staple in the Big Eight for years to come.
The activity that Stevens plays with is what I’ve appreciated most about her game. She never stops moving. The Janesville native wants to jump passing lanes, cut, and find her way to loose balls. That is what people want to see out of young players like Stevens. She has a solid skill set that she can build from, but it’s hard to believe in development when you don’t see kids who look like they care on the floor, and nobody could ever watch Stevens and think she doesn’t care. Her passion will take her where she wants to go.
A do-it-all kid out of Janesville, few kids have the motor that Stevens does. She’s an excellent rebounder and has proven she can generate extra possessions better than anyone in her class. The Craig guard can score around the basket whenever she wants and has a solid-looking jumper that teams will respect quickly. There will be at least two newcomers in the Big Eight All-Conference teams this spring.
