The Scholastic Live Period tips off on Thursday, and for the second year in a row, more teams are participating than the previous year. Over the next few days, I'd like to highlight a few names to watch for coaches at every level before Summer Slam tips off. I thoroughly enjoyed the event last year, as coaches from every level attended, and I expect it to be just as good, if not better than it was in 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='889690' first='Mylee' last='Redman']

The Laconia guard could have a breakout season with the Spartans. Redman didn't see meaningful minutes at the varsity level, but with the talent the Spartans had last season, it's more than understandable. Redman has impressed this AAU season with [program_tooltip program_id='713038' first='Wisconsin' last='Blaze']. She's scored at all three levels and looked comfortable under pressure. Redman will likely share ball-handling duties in the backcourt, but if their best lineups had Redman as the lead guard, I wouldn't be stunned.

[player_tooltip player_id='747942' first='Josie' last='Piurkowski']

The Brookfield native might have the most interesting recruitment in her class. Piurkowski has the size and length that coaches would like at 5'11 and can stretch the floor as well as anyone in her class. The biggest question for Piurkowksi is how they think she'll translate to the defensive end of the floor. However, when coaches see her defend with her Brookfield East group, I think they'll like what she can bring. Everything they do stems from the defensive end, and if she couldn't defend, she wouldn't play much. She could end up as a steal in the 2027 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1210467' first='Kaylah' last='Thysse']

The Oregon guard will be a kid I watch closely at least once this week. The role Thysse had was entertaining this season. Over three-quarters of shots came from beyond the three-point line. She has the trust of her teammates and coaches to shoot beyond the line, and that volume will grow over the next three seasons. Thysse is a unique player who could have a successful career playing as a floor spacer.

[player_tooltip player_id='533062' first='Tay' last='Maass']

I've been high on Maass since I first saw her take on Neenah at home early in the season. She's not a 6'2 post player, or she'd be an easy scholarship kid. However, her physicality and motor make up for her not being the most sizeable post in the country. I firmly believe she can compete at the scholarship level, but if she chooses to play at an elite D3 program, she'll contribute to winning at a high level.
