I spent my Monday over in Southwest Wisconsin for the Southwest Wisconsin Team Camp. A handful of the top teams from this part of the state participated in the event, and I have a few takeaways about players and teams.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220407' first='Soraeya' last='Stone']

The Platteville guard defended well in space and used her athleticism well in the queen of the court portion before Lunch. She has the physical tools to excel on that end of the floor, and she impressed me during the time she was on the floor. She's one to watch going forward.

Kinley Bendorf

The Platteville guard shot the ball well and stretched the floor for her team. She was a reliable perimeter presence and looked her best when she was playing 5v5. She makes the players around her better by being the best version of herself, which could help her get on the floor for the Hillman.

Lilly Ritchie

The Darlington wing is an intriguing defensive prospect. The 5'10 Redbird can guard multiple positions and use her length to defend shots around the basket. She also has the foot speed to make plays on the ball out on the perimeter. She's also capable of handling the ball and pushing the tempo in transition.

Maddy Place

The Black Hawk guard is a solid creator with the ball in her hands and is a threat to knock down shots from the perimeter. She sees the floor well and does a solid job as a screen and roll ball handler who can pick apart a defense. Place can hurt defenses as a shooter, passer, or off the dribble, which makes her a handful for opposing guards to deal with guarding ball screens against her.

[player_tooltip player_id='888330' first='McKinley' last='Russell']

The 6'0 guard/wing is a talented kid from Shullsburg. Russell is an excellent perimeter shooter who knocked down a few three-pointers when her defenders went under ball screens. She's a 6'0 kid who can handle the ball, and you won't find an abundance of those throughout the state. She's an intriguing kid in that 2028 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1219740' first='Hailey' last='Alt']

The Shullsburg guard is a reliable creator on the perimeter. She doesn't do too much with the ball in her hands and distributes the ball well at the point of attack. Alt is a physical 5'8 guard with enough size to defend around the basket on a switch. She may not be the premier guard here, but there is plenty to like about her game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1223689' first='Kayli' last='Buschor']

The Darlington newcomer could be an impact player when the season begins this winter. She makes good decisions with the ball, cuts off the ball, and can get her hands on the ball as a help defender. Buschor is a winning player who her coaches won't worry about on either end of the floor. She could be a prominent figure for the Redbirds next season.

Hannah Esch

The Barneveld rising senior is an excellent complementary guard who can do a little of everything. She's a skilled spot-shooter and knocked down about four three-pointers in the 5v5 game I watched her Eagles team play. The amount of attention her backcourt mate will demand will generate open looks at the basket for Esch.
