Saturday in AC- The Best of The Bunch

The final live period of the summer brought me to Atlantic City for Hoop Group Championship Weekend. I kept my head on a swivel from morning til night, filling my notebook and circling these twelve that stood out as the best of the day:    Running with the Syracuse Nets this weekend, Rhylin is surely one of the most skilled players in this event. She's mastered the art of the pick-n-roll and slices backdoor to get feeds at the rim. Long, quick & smart!     Very aggressive to the basket. Strong through contact; maintained body control for the hoop & harm more than once. Initiated contact on the baseline drive and got to the FT line multiple times; high % shooter. Active on the glass on both ends.     A spark with the ball in her hands. Speedy to break the press and avoid traps. Nice pop from 3 and crafty footwork on the drive; even mixed in the occasional Euro.     She was on high alert defensively and used her length to be disruptive and intercept passes. Quick getting downhill with a quick change of direction on the attack. Inside-out offensive versatility. Her assertive play earned her several trips to the charity stripe.     Absolutely clutch 3-point shooter. She let it fly confidently and quickly. Ary is someone you want with the ball in her hands when a big bucket is needed for your team. She made difficult shots look pretty easy.     Katie was unstoppable on the drive. Played through contact for the and-1. Also played smart to avoid rejections by flipping up some pretty floaters. Tough to contain getting downhill. She rattled in some deep triples and pulled down big rebounds from the guard spot. Fearless and focused.     Difference-maker on the glass. Solid back-to-the-basket style of play; not easily swayed off her base in the low post. She was strong setting the pick and fluid rolling to the basket. Stout rim protector; ate up a lot of shots.     Very efficient in her minutes. Hot 3-point shooting today. She moved the ball really well; quick rotations getting to her spots around the perimeter. Smart in her decision-making knowing when to shoot and when to pass up a good shot for a better one. She brought a lot of offense to the table.     Her ability to make important shots under pressure was really impressive. She showed tremendous poise versus [program_tooltip program_id='774068' first='NJ' last='Panthers']. Dropped bombs from 3-point land. Major contributions offensively and brought loads of energy when they needed it most. She thrived in 1-on-1 action and got shifty off the bounce.     Stretch big; dominant post play and the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter. She set brick-wall screens and showed fluid mobility rolling to the basket. Strong hands with a soft touch for easy lay-ins.     Overall impressive skillset. Problematic length on the glass. Big-time disruptor defensively. She denied/stole inbound passes, rejected shots inside and wreaked havoc on switches. It was game over when she established two feet in the paint; high % conversion.     Excellent job slicing through the defense and getting to the basket. She found tough angles off the glass going full steam ahead. Hard-nosed offense earned her multiple trips to the FT line.
