Happy 4th of July to everyone. This time next week, all the eyes of amateur basketball will be affixed in Louisville for Run for the Roses. I can't tell you how excited I am for the event. This event is the premier showcase event where young ladies can truly make a name for themselves amongst the recruiting ranks. Kids walk away with opportunities coming from this tournament. There isn't a better way to kickstart your recruitment than to play in this tournament.

As a talent evaluator, I have been blessed to see tons of kids over the years. Kids with vastly different styles come to hoop and play. Prospect, remember this, there is a place for you to play at the next level. You just have to go out there and be the best version of yourself. I have said it before and I will continue to say it again. Just do your best and play with poise. Through the good and the bad, just keep going. Someone will be watching. I guarantee that.

There is a term we use around here when something is about to start. “Jumpin' off the porch.” Normally, you might hear it at the beginning of the season or when a new kid is about to embark on a journey. Well, the recruiting journey is about to begin for some kids and I am excited for them.

Here are some young ladies who are about to get blitzed with opportunities based on their style of play. These aren't the only ones, but just a select few that come to mind.

This sophomore-to-be has received an offer from UTC, and that will not be her last. This girl is a smooth criminal and just plays the game the right way. She has a bag over moves that enable her to get to favor spots on the floor. She can dial it up from deep or maneuver her way to the rim. She plays D, getting steals and deflections. This kid is tough and she has been having a solid year on the EYBL circuit. Cleveland may have graduated a star athlete, but they have another one in the making in this young lady.

I rave about this young lady because her game has evolved over the years. She went from a back-to-the-basket kid to someone who can handle the rock and break you down using her handles. She can stretch the floor out, knock down 3s, pull up jumpers, or just utilize her size to get through contact on her way to the rim. I love her ability to block shots, control the boards, and clog the lane. She's a threat on both ends of the floor, and schools are taking notice now of how much of an asset she is becoming. Look for her to walk away with even more opportunities to compete at the next level.

If you don't know her by now, shame on you. This kid is super athletic and one of the top two-way players in the state. She plays with tons of energy and she looks to wreak havoc on both ends of the floor. A 3-level scoring threat, it's how she goes about her body of work that's impressive. This kid competes! She's that girl that does the extra effort plays. Dives on the floor, saves the ball from going out of bounds, anything to give her ball club an extra opportunity or an edge. Keep an eye out on this youngster because she is about to take off.

A talented kid who is just a pure hooper. Gritty type of player who gets after it on both ends of the floor. For starters, this kid loves the game of basketball. When she is on the floor, good things tend to happen. She can fill it up from all 3 levels, but contributing also in other aspects of the game makes her even more effective. You can't take her off the floor as she is that much of an asset to her club. Look for her to compete and showcase her skills in the next couple of tournaments. Definitely someone schools should keep an eye on.

She committed to the University of Missouri early this week. Congrats to this prospect as she becomes another talented kid who will be playing at the next level. Her stock has risen over the course of the past couple of months. She has dominated inside the painted areas, along with exploiting the mid-range areas as well. She is a beast on the boards, and her size enables her to swat shots away as well. Missouri is getting a steal in this young lady, and she will bring tons of talent with her to the city of Columbia. Until then, you better believe she is going to compete and sharpen her skills against some of the country's best.
