In this article we speak on five prospects from the 2026 Class that will put together impressive Winters for their Varsity teams in one way or another. Could be by their defensive play, could be because they know how to score at a high rate, or anything in-between. The point being that these players have done work in year's past and they are back again for one more go around.

I'm excited to see the season that [player_tooltip player_id='837358' first='Natalie' last='Ramsey'] is going to produce this upcoming Winter for her last go-around at the high school level. Ramsey has been the problem for opposing team's to deal with over the past three years. She has been someone controlling the middle of the lane on both sides of the floor as a consistent scorer, she has been defending the lane at a high rate, and she has been leading by example in everything else in-between. Ramsey is athletic and tall enough to make a difference at the collegiate level when she gets there but I'm sure that's far from her mind at this point. It's all about making the most of her opportunity right now over the next six months and I'm sure she will do just that.

[player_tooltip player_id='1194333' first='Addy' last='Oetker'] is still a prospect on the board for college coaching staffs and I'll be interesting to see where she ends up. Oetker is a big producer on the offensive side of the ball for her DSM Christian team. She is someone that is used to setting up others for success around her, while being a killer defensively with active hands and quick reflexes. She can also score the rock at a consistent rate. She can get to her spots for easy attempts or she can consistently get to the rim for a finish on either side of the basket. I'm not sure where Oetker will end up but she will be a steal for some college program before you know it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1154318' first='Carsen' last='Wellhausen'] recorded 113 Blocks on the season last Winter for her Junior season throughout 23 games. She also averaged just over 9 PPG and 11 RPG at the Forward position. This amount of Blocks led the state out of the 2026 Class, The next highest amount for a player only being in the low 80's. This production from Wellhausen as an elite shot blocker is going to be looked upon once again this Winter from the Cardinals. They will have to defend really well if they want to build on what they set in place a year ago when they went 13-10 overall. This is something that is an achievable goal for the Cardinals, they just need some help from the guard position to back the up. If that can all come together, they should be able to shock some teams this Winter. Wellhausen does come in at 6'1 so she should have the height advantage above must. Now it's just about putting the rest of the pieces together before game-play begins over the next month and a half.

The amount of times that [player_tooltip player_id='1106028' first='Sylvia' last='Sullivan'] got to the free throw stripe last Winter is impressive to say the least. Sullivan took 179 free throw attempts as a Junior from the PF position throughout 22 contests, eventually making 99 of those attempts. The goal this year for her Senior season will be to attempt the same amount of Free Throws while making more of those attempts in the grand scheme of things. With how their offensive system works, I'm sure she will have her chances as they should consistently look for Sullivan underneath. Last Winter she averaged a double-double in points-rebounds so that kind of gives you a general picture of how things are going to work at Boyer Valley. She just needs to continue to work with her high motor as a competitor and the rest will be history.

You can't mention some of the states top defenders without mentioning [player_tooltip player_id='598489' first='Anna' last='Hart'] of Coon Rapids-Bayard High School. Hart, a 5'8 PG, understands what it means to lead by example. She does that on the daily with her leadership and style of play. She doesn't talk the talk, she just walks the walk and that's all that really matters. On the season Hart killed it in most positive statistical categories but she really stood out on defense. She grabbed 150 Steals from opposing players, giving her the #1 rank in that category out of the 2026 Class last season. Now will she do the same this Winter? I'm not sure but she is sure to be a constant for her team in about every other category so either way, I'm sure she will be just fine.
