4 PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='808276' first='Brooklyn' last='Koester'], 5-6 2027- Brooklyn was the teams most productive scorer last season at just shy of 14 per game, and expect that to increase with another year of experience. She led Ohio in three=point shooting percentage, making her a major threat to open up a game if they leave her open. Defensively, she was a key player with three steals per game. She has great three-level scoring ability with handles and can force mistakes with her aggressive defense. She is always in the gym getting better! (Featured photo above)

Kate Turnwald, 5-5 2028- Kate is a player who can play either guard spot with good handles and is a shifty player who can get to the rim and can get everyone involved. She played every game as a freshman giving her a lot of experience as a sophomore. She has good quickness and does a lot of the little things for her team. Look for her role to increase this season and draw some attention.

Kendall Schnipke, 5-10 2027- Plays the post well, good scorer and able to produce on the glass. Her athleticism draws attention from the opponents and she can get off the ground. Will handle the post as the primary player in the paint this season, can play with her back to the basket or step outside.

Briley Wertenberger, 5-8 2027- Briley is a wing who came off the bench last season as a key component for their team and will be counted on to be a bigger contributor this season. She plays the game with high energy and is active at the rim. Also able to defend.

NEW VARSITY FACES

Jenna Suever, 5-9 2027- Jenna makes her varsity debut this season as a wing/post and is a strong athletic player who will contribute on the boards and play solid aggressive defense.

Vanessa Hilvers, 5-9 2027- Like Jenna, this is also her first varsity season at Ottoville. She is a lengthy wing who can knock down the three and rebound the ball well. Needs to hit the open shots to contribute for this team.

KEY UNDERCLASSMEN

Karlee Horstman will see her first key varsity minutes this season as a sophomore and is a very athletic wing who can defend and score off the dribble. Ready to contribute.

NOTABLE

This years team has no seniors and will rely on their junior class to lead the way, a long with a couple of underclassmen. They lost four key seniors who played a ton of minutes.

Last season marked the ninth trip to the state tournament for the Ottoville program and their first since 2019.

COACHES QUOTE

Head Coach Vaughn Horstman – “This is a great group of girls that we have this season. We are looking forward to building off of the momentum from last year's PCL championship and making it to the state final four. Our league will be strong again this year and we also have a very good non-conference schedule to help prepare us for tournament time. We are excited for the challenge and are focused on getting better each and every day.”
