Team Preseason Coverage: Brush Lady Arcs

The Brush Lady Arcs return for the 2025-26 season after recording the most successful season in program history, finishing 24-3 and reaching the OHSAA Division III State Semifinals. The Arcs return three key players, including 2025 Ohio Ms. Basketball finalist junior 5'10” forward [player_tooltip player_id='808264' first='Tatiana' last='Mason'], who averaged 18.8 points and 10.7 rebounds, earning Northeast Lakes District Division I Player of the Year honors in 2024-25. They also return her sharpshooter sister, sophomore 5'8” CG Nylah Mason, and senior standout 6'2” forward Jakalyn Brown, who are both looking to have big seasons for the Arcs. Coach Winters and his staff have built a program that looks to make even more team history in the 2025-26 season.   Key Returning Players    Tatiana is a scoring and rebounding machine in the interior. She uses her strong base and physicality to create initial contact in the post and soft touch to finish shots around the rim. She is also an elite pressure defender who closes out with high hands and stays active in gaps with her hands and feet. Tatiana moves her feet well and understands how to gain position for offensive rebounds and secure defensive boards. She uses her strong base defensively to create a wall against her opponents in the post and doesn't let much get by her. Tatiana is looking to have a big junior year for the Lady Arcs as they rely on her presence on both ends to help lead this 2025-26 squad.     Nylah is the main point guard and offensive orchestrator for the Lady Arcs. Many of the offensive sets run through her as she is a more than capable ball handler and offensive initiator. Nylah displays a high basketball IQ, running plays, and setting up teammates for scoring opportunities. She is also strong at attacking downhill and penetrating the defense with her elite ball handling and quickness. Nylah is a sharpshooter from deep as the Arc's best shooter, setting a single-season record in 2024-25 with 45 made three-pointers. She demonstrated last year that she is also a dominant pressure defender, collecting 82 steals on the season. The Mason sisters will look to be the engines that drive the Lady Arcs toward a successful 2025-26 season.     Brown is a dynamic presence on both ends of the floor. She is a strong finisher inside the paint and understands how to use her body and size to finish through contact. Brown has great natural size, length, and athleticism that she uses to pressure the ball and rebound outside of her area. She is an automatic finisher in the low post.     Juliana plays with a very high motor and displays that she is a leader on the court as a senior. She has great shot mechanics and a high basketball IQ, knowing when to pull up for her jump shot. Juliana can handle the ball, scoring both inside and on the perimeter, and finishing difficult shots through contact. She runs the floor very well in transition, looking for easy scoring opportunities at the rim. She moves her feet well defensively and is active in the passing lanes, causing deflections and steals. Juliana will look to provide strong senior leadership and stability as an effective scoring option for the Lady Arcs.    Additional Players to Watch:    Isys is a big interior presence who understands how to use her body to carve out position and score in the paint. She is a strong rebounder and sees the floor well, getting the ball to her guards in transition. Her presence is felt on the defensive end, as she moves her feet well and presents a difficult wall to score around. Isys will look to help lock down the Lady Arcs' interior this season.    Rikea Matthews F 6'0” 2027 - strong pressure defender who moves her feet well defensively and uses her length and hands to contain the ball handler shooters.   Addisyn Harris 5'5” G 2028 - Addisyn plays well out of a triple threat and is a strong ballhandler. She can get downhill quickly using her size and speed. She likes to drive and create contact at the rim. One of the biggest matchups of the season will be on December 7th, when the Lady Arcs travel to Chicago to face national powerhouse Whitney Young in the Chicago Elite Classic. They will also play powerhouse Africentric Early College on December 12th in a tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The Lady Arcs will also play the Laurel Gators in the annual 2026 Chet Mason Invitational tournament on January 24th, 2026.   Olmsted Falls - November 29   Afrocentric  - December 13   Toledo Notre Dame - December 21   Magnificat - January 7   Anthony Wayne - January 10   The Lady Arcs are looking forward to another big 2025-26 season with high aspirations of making program history by being in the running for an OHSAA Division III state title.
