2025 Early Season Breakout: White County

To start the year, the White County girls' basketball program, which has won over 30 games in its past two seasons, looks to be on pace to do so again this year. Right now, they have a record of 12-1. Here are a few players who have helped keep the Warriorettes a high-level program this year.    Through 13 games so far in 2025, [player_tooltip player_id='893861' first='Gracie' last='Clark'] is the leading scorer for White County. In the year, she is averaging 15.8 points per game.   Clark has great speed, and her IQ is above average. With the two, she often is in fastbreak scoring scenarios, often seen dribbling past defenders and getting steals. Clark, in these transition chances, is an elite capitalizer in them. Around the basket, Clark is also crafty, scoring with high-level moves. This was seen when she hit a quick spin move and scored a layup against DeKalb County. In this game, she had 17 points.     At the shooting guard position, the ceiling is the limit for [player_tooltip player_id='822275' first='Ashlyn' last='Selby'].   She is averaging the third most points per game this year, in 12 recorded games, with 11.2, and also leads the Lady Warriors in rebounds with 7.8 per game. In this, Selby at 5'11" is a capable three-point shooter who can hit shots from well off the line. She is also a good interior scorer. Some of these chances inside the paint come from the offensive rebounds she generates, where she is averaging three per game.   On defense, Selby's length makes life difficult for opposing players on the perimeter in getting past her. This helps her also in being good at forcing turnovers. This was seen in a game against Warren County, where she had three steals.     [player_tooltip player_id='813169' first='Bella' last='Winningham'] is the second leading scorer on White County this year, averaging 13.4 points per game.   The way Winningham gets her points is mainly behind the arc. Already this season, she has a few games to her 2025-2026 basketball resume with over two or or made threes. This includes a game against DeKalb County, where she made four threes.   Winningham mainly makes her perimeter shots off catch-and-shoot actions. Her superpower as a player is the range she has. Winningham could be seven feet off the line, and her shot looks just as pure from when her feet are barely behind the arc.     With all the double-digit scorers mentioned above, Grasty has filled the role of being one of the team's main playmakers.   Grasty, as of now, is the team's leader in assists, averaging 3.5 per game. In a recent game against Alvin C. York High School, she had four assists and also showed off some of her other abilities as a player.   These abilities came on the defensive end, where Grasty combined for five steals and blocks. Grasty can read passing lanes well, and her never give up trait allows her to get good shot contests and also the occasional blocked shot. In the year, Grasty is one of six players on White County averaging over one steal per game.       In just her second year of high school basketball, Kylee Norris is making an impact.   This year, Norris is averaging 8.4 points per game. One of her best games this season so far came against Pearl Cohn High School. In the contest, she had 20 points. 15 of these points came from behind the arc. She also had eight rebounds in the game.   At 5'10", Norris is a great overall athlete, which shows up on the offensive end as shown above, and does as well defensively. In a recent game against Smith County, Norris had two steals.
