I've seen over 20 games thus far in the combined high school seasons of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Today, I'd like to highlight a handful of players I've seen this season who have impressed in the early days of the 2025-26 season. Let's talk about a few breakout performers in games I've attended.

I attended McCarthy's high-school debut against a talented SPASH team, where she came off the bench. The Eau Claire native had an excellent showing for Memorial, finishing that game with 14 points off the bench, and helped the Old Abes stay in the game when the Panthers seemed like they were firing on all cylinders offensively. She had plenty of confidence for a player in her first game at the high school level, and will be a player the Old Abes can rely on in high-profile games throughout the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1359856' first='Soraya' last='Benton']

The Oostburg sophomore transferred in over the summer and has been an excellent addition to the Lady Dutch, coming off a Division 3 State Title last March. Benton has been a key player for Oostburg in their wins over Notre Dame and Whitefish Bay, two teams that I personally have ranked in the top ten in Division 1 and 2, respectively. She is an athletic wing who has played as a five at times to keep their lineups athletic and able to switch defensively. She's brought another element to an already talented Oostburg group.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275661' first='Jordan' last='Ohman']

The Menomonie guard was impressive against a talented Eau Claire Regis group, with goals of hoisting a gold ball in Division 4. Ohman is a physical and athletic guard who found ways to make plays for herself and teammates offensively. Her ability to play through contact and draw in defenders helps earn her teammates open looks. I also love the versatility she can bring to a defensive unit with her lateral quickness and strength.

[player_tooltip player_id='992484' first='Ambria' last='Fischer']

The Appleton East guard is a member of a talented backcourt that the Patriots boast, and came off the bench in their first Fox Valley Association game of the year against Oshkosh West. Fischer was among the most impactful players on the floor. She moves the ball well, is an all-conference level defender, is a physical rebounder, and isn't afraid to shoot when she has space to pull up. She will be a player who can help win her team games on either end of the court over the next few seasons.
