She Got Game Evals

While the Garden State was represented by only a pair of teams (Blair & Hun), these two competed hard and went at it against some of the most stacked competition at The. St James. I had a front row seat to the action and gathered my notes on these eight players who really impressed me:

Ava is the engine that makes this Bucs team go! Flashy guard play; light on her feet. She was in full-on attack mode and imposed her game vs one of the best teams at the event, Royal Crown School (Canada). Any chance for her to push the pace was fully executed. Quick cross on the dribble penetration and slash to the basket.

Isa anchored the post really well in both games Saturday and Sunday. Very strong with a sturdy base, able to battle through the double teams and overpower defenders. Excellent kick-out passes from the post. She got up and down the floor really well, especially vs an Example Academy squad who loved to push the pace.

Very good facilitator. She dropped off impressive dimes, including one memorable shovel pass under the basket in crunch time [to Ava] vs Royal Crown. She showed the ability to make smart decisions in real time while charging full steam ahead on the break. High motor guard who never once took a play off. Hard-worker all the way through.

Raw skill-set and sheer athleticism. She displayed a ton of confidence in her game, whether it was attacking from the wing or shooting from the perimeter. Clutch bucket-getter. Very crafty layup package. She's a legitimate multi-level scoring threat who energized the offense. Her confidence trickles down to her teammates; they trust her with the ball in big moments.

Nice footwork in the post; got around the defender and scooped up shots around the basket. Her hustle and effort was undeniable. Chased down rebounds and scrapped for possession. Her transition defense made a big difference, able to beat everybody back and get set up to prevent easy buckets. Quick to close the lanes and bring the trap; excellent help defense vs Kimball (NH). On offense, her mid-range shot seems to be her bread & butter.
