Mary has been a revelation this summer. Her 16 points helped the house team take down DePaul Catholic and prove once again that she may be small, but her game is mighty. She makes getting to the basket look easy, pushing the pace and staying energized for the entirety of games. Crafty one-handed extended scoop layups, spot-up triples and floaters in the lane make her a tough cover.

Mary is a strong finisher who does a good job playing off two feet and embracing contact around the basket. She was named the Underclassmen MVP at the recent Hoops4MS tournament after putting together a strong performance. Mary uses changes of pace and hesitation dribbles to shake defenders and get past them, then finishes through contact to earn trips to the free-throw line and create and-one opportunities.

Mary had a strong sophomore season for Blair Academy and will play for Team Northeast 16U P24 in the AAU season. She has a smooth floater to finish over taller defenders and consistently keeps her eyes up to find open teammates. Mary is also a confident three-point shooter who can spot up around the perimeter and knock them down with consistency.

Mary is a steady presence with the ball in her hands, using creative dribble combinations to break pressure and quickly organize her team’s offense. She delivers accurate, well-timed passes, especially to cutters slipping toward the basket. Mary makes unselfish decisions in the paint, kicking out to open shooters instead of forcing contested attempts. She also brings relentless hustle, diving for loose balls and using strong hands defensively to force jump balls and extra possessions.

Don’t let her size fool you!! Mary played fearless basketball, going up against much taller opponents and never looking rattled. A scrappy and speedy 5’3″ guard, she may have been the smallest on the floor but never showed signs of being intimidated. She pushed the pace and got the ball exactly where it needed to be, especially in the 1st quarter. Lots of hustle and confidence in her game.

Very good facilitator. She dropped off impressive dimes, including one memorable shovel pass under the basket in crunch time [to Ava] vs Royal Crown. She showed the ability to make smart decisions in real time while charging full steam ahead on the break. High motor guard who never once took a play off. Hard-worker all the way through.
