Sterlington Lady Panther Rolls Over Opponent in Hoops Action

On December 4th, the Lady Vikings of Airline High School hosted the Lady Panthers of Sterlington High School. In a very competitive game, Sterlington won the tip-off and gained control of the basketball in the first quarter. It was a slow start for the Lady Vikings, who scored only 7 points in the first quarter. The Lady Panthers had a strong first quarter, scoring 20 points and leading by 13 points at the end of the first. In the second quarter, the Lady Panthers continued to play strongly, scoring 16 points. Although the Lady Vikings were trailing, they continued to put up a fight, scoring 4 points in the second quarter. The Lady Vikings then hit an amazing half-court buzzer-beater by [player_tooltip player_id='947884' first='Kezyriah' last='Sykes'] at the end of the second quarter, with the Lady Panthers leading by 25In the third quarter, the Lady Vikings began to assert themselves on the court, scoring 13 points. The Lady Panthers maintained their lead by scoring 12 points. In the final quarter, the Lady Vikings outscored their opponents with 8 points, while the Lady Panthers scored 6 points. She is someone you can't forget about on the court or she will make you pay. JaLeeyah had 2a few steals and turnovers caused by great hustle and ball pressure, and knowing where the ball was on the floor at all times, and great communication with her fellow teammates. JaLeeyah has the skills to score from all levels if needed, but has done most of her damage on mid-range jumpers and driving and cutting to the rim strongly. She is a type of player who can help a team at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='947884' first='Kezyriah' last='Sykes'] is wearing number 2 for the Lady Vikings of Airline High School. Kezyriah is coming back to the court from an ACL tear, and she showed up and showed out on the hardwood, coming off the bench and giving her team a spark they needed and using her height and skills to her advantage. Kezyriah was able to knock down shots all over the floor. The most impressive was a half-court buzzer beater to end the second quarter, and another mid-range knockdown buzzer beater to end the third quarter, so pressure isn't an issue for her. Even though she is big, she can handle the ball very well and control the floor if needed. On defense, Kezyriah can protect the rim and get steals and blocks. She isn't scared and will fight and box out, and hustle. Kezyriah has amazing skills and can be a weapon or that missing piece for any program. Wishing her a healthy season. Alyssa is a true floor general, communicating with her teammates on both sides of the floor. Alyssa is an elite ball handler who possesses great basketball IQ and court vision. Alyssa has a swagger and shiftiness to her game that is unmatched. Alyssa can score from all levels on the floor and is very unselfish with the ball. She is creative in attacking the angles, driving to the rim, and causing the defense to collapse on her for her to pass the ball out to the open teammate for the knockdown. Alyssa had a great inbound pass for an easy bucket. She recognized the mismatch right away for the advantage. Alyssa is ready to help lead a team and give her skills at the next level.     Sidney McGee, wearing number 4 for the Lady Panthers of Sterlington High School, is a remarkable player. She excels at playing off the ball and consistently makes mid-range shots, demonstrating her skill as a catch-and-shoot specialist with a quick release. Sidney moves effectively around the court without the ball in her hands. Defensively, she is equally impressive, playing with intensity, applying pressure, and often causing opponents to lose possession, which she then capitalizes on by driving coast-to-coast for a strong finish at the rim. Sidney displays a high level of energy throughout the game. She is a determined athlete who embraces challenges and confidently takes good shots. Sidney is both a smart and highly talented athlete.
