Top Sharpshooters From Indy Hoop Fest

Schools may be shut down for winter break, but many high school basketball teams have still been in action. In Thompson Station, TN, many teams played at Independence High School in the Indy Hoop Fest. Here were some of the top long-range shooters from the event.    Against Independence High School on day one of the Hoop Fest, sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1155010' first='Rileigh' last='Miller'] balled out.   Miller showed off her versatility as a player, helping create turnovers on the defensive end against Independence High School. This defense from her and her Pearl Cohn teammates led to them getting a big advantage. In the first half, they led the Lady Eagles 37-10.   Miller's shooting prowess was seen in half-court sets during this dominant scoring run. She made four threes in the first half from all around the perimeter. Her height and confidence are two traits that go into her being a great perimeter shooter.     Out of all the sharpshooters at the Hoopfest, a senior from Dickson County, [player_tooltip player_id='900816' first='Brynee' last='Snow'] had the best single-game performance from behind the arc out of any player.   Snow on day two of the event set the nets on fire with the heater she was on from beyond the perimeter. Against Centennial High School, Snow had 11 made threes. This is not only a personal high for Snow, but it broke the Dickson County school record for most made threes in a game.   Along with her makes from distance on day two, Snow also had some made threes in day one's game against Donelson Christian Academy.     In what has been an undefeated start to the 202025-2026 season, [player_tooltip player_id='822235' first='Jane' last='Ellis'] has played a big part in CPA's success.   Ellis does a lot of things well, but her shooting especially shined against a then 10-1 Beraden team at the Hoopfest. In a tightly contested game, Ellis knocked down multiple threes in the second half. These shots from Ellis against Bearden came off trailing actions. Her jumper also has great mechanics, and at 6'0", she can make even contested jumpers. These big makes, along with clutch shots from a plethora of her teammates, led to a 69-61 win over the Lady Bulldogs.   She had a total of three makes from three in this game. In her team's second game of the event against Tullahoma High School, she also had a good game from distance, making two threes.     At 5'10", Mia Johnson is more than capable of shooting from distance.   Johnson had made a three at the Hoop Fest in both games she played. In the first game against Dickson County, she made a high-arcing three that looked effortless from the right wing in the first half. The combination of her size and the arc on her jumper makes her shot awfully hard to block.   Johnson at the event also displayed great defense. She can guard at a high level both on the perimeter and in the post. In the game against Dickson County, she showed off her shot blocking ability by getting two blocks in the contest.     The short freshman guard from Grace Christian Academy had a good day-one performance from behind the line against Centennial.   In the game, Hastings was not hesitant to let a good look from behind the arc go to waste. She had two makes in the first half against Centennial, one from the left wing and one from the right.   Along with her shooting promise, Hastings is also a scrappy defender. This was seen in a game outside of the Hoop Fest against Northwest High School, where she had two steals.
