In the first consolation semifinal game, John Burroughs defeated Highland 57-48 in a battle of teams from St. Louis vs. Metro East (IL).

John Burroughs was led by 5'10" 2029 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1054097' first='Daylin' last='Douglas'], who scored a game-high 23 points. She has good length and athleticism and she displayed a nice first step to beat defenders to the basket. She was hitting jumpers off the dribble and she also hit multiple 3-pointers. She is one of the top young prospects in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='351820' first='Moriyah' last='Douglass']: The 6'4" 2026 Texas Tech recruit scored 14 points while also rebounding and blocking shots at a high level. She caused all kinds of problems on defense with her height and wingspan. She also had some good rim runs, especially one where she ran the full length to score on an offensive rebound.

I was also impressed with 2028 guard Lauren Lanton, who scored eight points and played an excellent floor game. She was making a lot of hustle plays for rebounds and loose balls. She was also good on defense. On one play, she got switched on to a much taller player in the low post. She jumped up and stole the post entry pass. She also hit a 3-pointer from the corner. Ada Collier is another 2028 who played well. The young forward handled and passed the ball well. She was also a good release from the high post. She knocked down multiple jumpers from the mid-range area off the catch.

Highland was led by 2026 guard Jordan Bircher, who scored 18 points. She is a very effective offensive player from 15 feet and in. She made some tough physical drives in the lane and she knocked down pull up jumpers from the elbow. I was also impressed with the shooting of 2027 guard Mady Holcmann, who scored 15 points. All of her points came on her five made 3-pointers.
*******

TROY BATTLES PAST EUREKA

Troy advanced to the fifth-place bracket championship game with a tough 47-40 victory over Eureka. It was a physical game where both teams played stingy defense. Troy held the lead much of the way and managed to hold off a late Eureka surge.

Troy was led by 5'7" 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='982968' first='Mya' last='Robinson'], who scored a game-high 21 points. She is an energizer bunny who plays hard at both ends of the court. She hit a pair of corner 3-pointers in the first quarter to get it started. After that, it was attack, attack and attack some more with her speed and tenacity. The Trojans also got 16 points from 5'10" 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='777615' first='Grace' last='Means'], who forms a potent backcourt combination with Robinson. She has good handles and was getting buckets on some slick drives into the lane. She also uses her size to shoot over smaller defenders in the lane.

Eureka was led by 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='857586' first='Marleigh' last='Allen'], who scored 18 points. She really knows how to score. She was constantly moving against defensive pressure. She didn't frustrated if she was denied the ball. She just kept moving. When she got the ball, she was able to drive the ball to score or draw a foul. Fellow 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='493365' first='Mia' last='Cuneio'] added 10 points for the Wildcats. She is a steady ball handler who distributed the ball and can also score. She hit a 3-pointer and a nice 15 footer off the dribble.

LIFT FOR LIFE RACES PAST ST JOSEPH'S

In perhaps the best game on the consolation round, Lift for Life Academy defeated St. Joseph's 74-65 in an up-tempo affair.

Lift for Life is shorthanded without All-State guards [player_tooltip player_id='777605' first='Amaya' last='Manuel'] and [player_tooltip player_id='488377' first='Zha' last='Harris'] who are both out with injuries. Manuel is out for the season while Harris should return in early January. Still, the Hawks have quality guards in 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='493477' first='Diamond' last='Polk'] and 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='803071' first='Cara' last='Manuel'], who combined for 37 points. The 5'8" Manuel scored 19 points, included four 3-pointers. She knocked down three triples in the third quarter when she caught fire. She plays an old-school game where goes at her own speed and she still creates her shots off the dribble. The 5'7" Manuel scored 18 points. She made three 3-pointers while also creating some nice jumpers off the dribble. She also drove it well to score in the lane.

The Hawks have developed a very effective inside game with the emergence of 5'9" 2027 Rian Lenox and 6'0" 2026 forward Kah'Myla Bell. Lenox scored 18 points and did an excellent job in the paint. She is a tireless worker on the boards and she also had a nice touch in the paint. She was also excellent from the free throw line. Bell added 10 points as she also attacked the boards while also displaying a few good offensive moves in the post.

St. Joseph's was led by 5'9" 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='493366' first='Piper' last='Mooney'], who scored 20 points. She is a very good scorer from all three levels. She was hitting 3-pointers off the catch and she was getting downhill on the drive while going either left or right. She is also a primary ball handler in addition to her scoring responsibilities. 2028 guard Gabby Bertucci was also tough as she scored 16 points for the Angels. She was hitting the 3-pointer and she also moved well without the ball to get herself open. She plays with good poise and fundamentals.

In a battle of Metro Women's Athletic Association teams, Cor Jesu defeated Ursuline 43-40 in a low-scoring defensive battle. The two teams were paced by a pair of future Division I athletes. Cor Jesu was led by 6'0" 2026 Lindenwood volleyball recruit [player_tooltip player_id='1415877' first='Lauren' last='Ortwerth'] with 16 points. She plays with toughness and physicality in the post, but she can also handle the ball and attack from the high post. Ursuline was led by 6'0" 2026 Saint Louis U. basketball recruit [player_tooltip player_id='554959' first='Evelyn' last='Shane'], who had 14 points. When she gets a full head of steam, she is attacking downhill and is very tough to stop. She also blocked multiple shots on the defensive end. One of the x-factors for Cor Jesu in the victory is 5'10" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='773862' first='Izzy' last='Rohr'], who scored all nine of her points in the second half. She hit a high-arching 3-pointer and she can also score around the basket.
