4A District 7: A Tough District You Must Watch

I bet you do to. I took some time and looked at the landscape across the state on how teams have done thus far. From West Tennessee to East Tennessee, we have some pretty stout districts that have some talent in them. There are a few districts that I would say are top heavy. For example, there may be a district of 4 or 5 teams in it, well the first two are good and the next three are so so. Then there are some that are a little deeper per se. You have 2-3 teams who are front runners and then the next wave could be a coin toss in how close they play. The later example, that is how most of the districts in the state are.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I wanted to touch on a particular district in Middle Tennessee that I view as pretty stout. Wilson Co. ladies and gentlemen, they have a district that could really be up for grabs by many different teams. From top to bottom, games carry so much weight as far as standings go, each and every night is up for grabs as teams jockey for position. Juliet</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson Central</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>According to the latest BCAT Girls AAAA Power 10 rankings produced by coaches, 3 Wilson County Schools ( Green Hill, Lebanon, and Beech) were all ranked int he top 10. However, Mt. Juliet, posting a 4-0 district record coming into tonight, is knocking on the door, looking to knock someone out of their top 10 spot. There are few other districts that may come close to this type of nightly competition, however as of right now, this is one district where every game matters as it determines seeding purposes come tournament season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tonight, Green Hill and Mt. Juliet square off for first place in the district. All eyes will be on this matchup for many reasons. Green Hill has transformed their program into a juggernaut, while the Lady Bears of Mt. Juliet refined who they are and have come on strong. She is a solid defender who can neurtralize an opponent. She will be looked upon to b e the spark plug for the Lady Bears this game. Playing with a lot of confidence, she is the leading statical girls for this team. Points, rebounding, blocks, you name it, her fingerprints are all over the success of this program. She sets the tone and her teammates feed off her energy as she is one who can impact a game in multiple ways. She is someone who can't be left alone because if she gets a clean look at the rim, the ball is going in. She has been counted on multiple times in clutch moments and has delivered. This young lady plays with a lot of heart and passion. She loves to dial it up from deep and I truly mean deep. Heck, another zip code even. She has smooth handles, can get to favorable spots in the interior, run a offense, but loves being on the arc. Playing with a lot of confidence, she has helped impact the Green Hill attack in multiple ways. If you are a basketball fan of the NBA and the name Andre Iguodala rings a bell, this young lady puts you in that mindset. She doesn't have to be a high point scorer, but the other things she does to impact the game is solid. Rebounding (boxing out), getting steals and deflections, setting solid screens as she rolls and finishes at the rim, things like that along with her versatility make her a solid weapon for the MJ club. Oh, she has speed, she is going to Murray State for that. Factor in those qualities and you have someone who can contribute a solid body of work into the fold.
