Ben Franklin holds on to beat Bourgade Catholic

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Thursday, Jan 22nd I attended the 3A <strong>Ben Franklin Chargers </strong>hosting a region game versus 3A <strong>Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles</strong>. Both teams will most likely be in the playoffs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Be Franklin won&nbsp;<strong>45-41</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some of the standouts on the night</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679567' first='Livia' last='Emery'] Ben Franklin</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A point guard with a tighter crossover and she can create separation. She uses the runner and can shoot it from the perimeter. She talks a lot on defense and will take charges. She is a really good pocket passer and handles a lot of their lead role and can break the press. She is the engine of their team.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679626' first='Season' last='White'] Ben Franklin</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed power forward had the tough task of slowing down Ochoa and did a commendable job at it. She fights hard for positon and pushed her off of her go-to spots. She rebounds well and will block shots. She scores with put backs and can take it the length of the court. She scored 13-15 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679685' first='Ivy' last='Mortensen'] Ben Franklin</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A stronger framed guard is a tough rebounder in her area and will close out to shooters quickly plus collect steals and will dive on the floor. She is a good passer in traffic and will get free trips to the foul line with her aggressive play. She handles it well in tight spaces and scored around 10 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679576' first='Adlee' last='Trujillo'] Ben Franklin&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A defensive minded wing forward who is very good on the ball defensively. She grabs rebounds at a high clip, hustles for loose balls and will close out to shooters. She will get trips to the free throw line and score with mid-range pull-ups and contested layups. She will handle it and back her opponents down and use advanced post footwork to score and loves using the spin move. Once she gets doubled she finds the open teammate every time. She made a few incredible full court outlet passes. She will score with speed dribble drives past the initial defender, she uses the floater game well, she will rattle in threes off the catch and score with running layups. She is a good passer and is very quick in the passing lanes to steal the ball. She scored 17+ points.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
