Dynamic Duos Getting It Done in the Southern Section

A dynamic 1-2 punch gives your team a chance regardless of the opposition. They set the tone and take a game over at a moment's notice. If one player is seeing double teams or facing a box-and-1, the other player is capable of carrying the load. The ladies below are fun to watch and will be hard to beat come playoff time.    Leila scored 40 points to go along with 21 rebounds and 5 assists earlier this year vs. Cerritos. Very few posts can contain her in the paint over the course of a game. Leila plays with a nice mix of physicality and finesse. Understands how to use her strength and size for inside leverage on post-ups and rebounds. Relatively nimble with a great feel for the game. The court vision and playmaking instincts are advanced for her position. Reliable jump shot with range out to the 3pt line if left open. Excellent footwork, soft touch, fluid stroke. When Leila is locked in, she can be flat out unstoppable as a scorer and rebounder.     Amirah is arguably the most underrated floor general in the state. She can score inside and out. Deep range on her jump shot. Amirah understands how to keep everyone involved offensively. Displays effective change of pace going downhill. Plays passing lanes to perfection, leading to fastbreak opportunities for her team. This allows her to showcase explosive finishing ability and pin-point passing in transition. She is lightning-quick with the ball in her hands. Amirah is a natural lead guard with a playstyle that translates to the next level.     The Ventura County career 3pt record has been an interesting storyline to follow throughout the year, with Daniela and Ventura's [player_tooltip player_id='1247164' first='Kailee' last='Staniland'] going back and forth for the #1 spot. Daniela is a hard-nose guard who is lethal from long-range! She has been Camarillo's go-to scorer for the last several weeks, and she has delivered. Her consistency has been impressive to say the least. Good mechanics on her jumper to go along with a high release point. She moves well without the ball and can come off screens to spot-up. Daniela has perfected the one-dribble pull-up. Her signature stepback allows her to create space and let it fly. One of the top scoring guards in the southern section.     Liz has been on a roll lately, complimenting her twin sister to perfection. When she is aggressive offensively, Camarillo is impossible to guard on the perimeter. Liz is unselfish and understands how to facilitate for others. 2nd on the team in assists per game. Applies solid ball pressure defensively. She can flourish in both guard spots and does a little bit of everything. The natural chemistry between the two is evident. The Coastal Canyon League championship is up for grabs, and this elite backcourt duo may be in for the taking.     Kailee surpassed 2,000 career points over the weekend. This comes shortly after becoming Ventura's all-time scoring leader, which came shortly after becoming Ventura's all-time assists leader. The 1v1 battle with Daniela Betancourt of Camarillo will come down to the wire to see who finishes as the career all-time 3pt record holder for Ventura County. What a resume for the standout senior. How does she get it done? Kailee scores effortlessly on all 3 levels, combining her sharpshooting lefty stroke with a great feel for the game. Kailee is elite in isolation and routinely makes shots with a hand in her face. She has shown noticeable improvement year after year, and the numbers back that up. 4+ threes in 17 games, 7+ assists in 7 games, and we are still in January!     [player_tooltip player_id='1124473' first='Brinley' last='Anderson'] has been the X-factor for 20-4 Ventura (undefeated in league play). The athleticism, skill, motor, and intangibles make her an intriguing prospect. Brinley eclipsed the 1,000 point mark earlier this month. Accomplishing this feat as a junior speaks volumes. She plays well against size and length. Makes good decisions with the ball in her hands. Excellent in transition. She can also stretch the floor. Brinley is an exceptional pick-n-roll player. She has stepped up to the plate time and time again in big games. She can give her team a spark on both ends! Brinley is a mobile, versatile forward who brings a lot to the table.     Alyssa has scored in double figures every single game this year. Her consistency game-in, game-out has been flat-out remarkable. Alyssa combines a quick 1st step with a deadly hesitation move. This allows her to penetrate at will. She finishes through contact with both hands. Willing passer who can drive-and-dish with the best-of-the-best. She can also catch fire on the perimeter as a shooter. The offensive firepower she provides Whitney will make them a dangerous competitor in the postseason.     When Tina gets it going, she is hard to stop as a scorer. Her ability to apply consistent pressure on the opposing defense sets her apart. She had 28 points last week vs. Mayfair. As the only senior on the roster, Tina gives Whitney leadership and confidence, something that younger teams struggle with from time-to-time. She is the heart and soul. Very few teams have the defensive on the perimeter to contain Alyssa AND Tina.     Sophia has nearly doubled her scoring average this season. The all-around game has gone to another level as well. Sophia has led St. Bonaventure to a 19-2 record thus far after finishing 19-9 just a year ago. She is at her best doing damage inside the arc. She has the athleticism and concentration to finish in traffic. Willing passer who has shown to be dominant on the glass at times. Sophia had a performance for the ages in a back-and-forth 77-73 win vs. Dos Pueblos earlier this year. Why was she player of the game? Sophia scored 28 points and missed only one shot (11/12) for the entire game!     Sarah had a QUADRUPLE-DOUBLE earlier this month: 26 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists, 11 steals! She followed that up with 16 points, 10 assists, and 10 steals the very next game. Sarah is a stat-sheet stuffer who checks all of the boxes. She has her fingerprints over every aspect of the game. Sarah is shooting 43% from long-range. She leads her team in several categories offensively and defensively. Efficient 2-way floor general with one of the highest ceilings in the junior class.
