Culee Smith and Davis County have put together a season to remember throughout their first 17 games this season as they sit with a 14-3 overall record. Smith is the Mustangs' source of energy and production as a facilitator. She leads this group with 83 assists on the Winter so far and I'm sure that number is going to grow into the 100's before their season comes to an end. She is also currently in second in total Steals throughout the 3A Class as well with 81. Smith works primarily off the bounce but she also is not bad at leading her teammates with the pass. She anticipates where her teammates are going to be and she makes sure that they get a clean look in some shape or form at the bucket. We haven't heard about Smith or Davis County much this season but that is going to change if they keep on winning moving into the Playoffs. This is a guard with quick hands and some natural instincts so I can't wait to see how she finishes out her high school career over the next few months.

There are only a few individuals that have a higher assist than turnover number on their season as a whole. Even some of the best players that we might be able to name at the Varsity level throughout the state don't have that wide of a margin with that category but someone that is doing really well with this is Holly Rieck. Rieck compete for Creston High School and she isn't her team's leader in PPG but she does score it fairly often, she shows up in the rebound department on both offense and defense, and she is their top distributor with over 5 APG while only turning it over under 3 times per contest. The best teams and prospects know how to share the ball. They know how to make winning plays and we have seen that a few times this Winter out of Rieck so far.

[player_tooltip player_id='832203' first='Rachel' last='Kacmarynski'] is demonstrating all her effort this season and those efforts are correlating to big numbers on the stat sheets. Kacmarynski isn't the tallest player at 5'10 but she competes like she is 6'1 with how often she is working the glass. Not only is she working the glass, she is finishing whenever she offensively rebounds the rock and she is out-letting whenever she grabs it on defense. Kacmarynski is leading her Pella Christian team in PPG (12.5), RPG (12.4), and APG (4.2). Which puts her as the top rebounder that the 3A Class has to offer so far this Winter with 211 in total. This team is sitting at around .500 and a major reason for that is the play of Kacmarynski. She just needs to keep building on what she has put in place the last two years and I'm sure these types of numbers will continue.

If you want to summarize Luella Weispfenning and her play-style, you would say that she holds her own for being undersized for her position. Weispfenning stands around 5'9 and she shows up each time she laces her kicks in the PPG, RPG, and BPG department. It's somewhat shocking when you learn that this is someone that is tied for 2nd in Blocks in total on the season with 47 moving into the month of February. You can look at Weispfenning's athletic ability, you could look at her team's competition level, or you could look at how her team navigates their strategy as they move into contests - either way, Weispfenning always shows up and that's why she is a top producer in the 3A Class.
