Marana vs Tucson Standouts

Marana vs Tucson was a great matchup to watch. Both teams had veteran leadership but were lead by some great young talent. It was a battle for most of the game. [player_tooltip player_id='892652' first='Destiney' last='Brown'] was unstoppable and had a huge performance that helped lead to the Badgers pulling away. Below are my standouts from the game.    One of the fastest guards in the state. Can dribble in and out of traffic and weave her way to the basket. She was scoring at will in the first half where she scored 16 of her teams 27 points. She is an all around player who hustles every possession. She was a nightmare on the defensive side accounting for many steals. Dove for the loose ball which led to points for the Badgers. Brown finished the game (unofficially) with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Arguably the most under recruited player in the state.     Jordan cuts and moves around the floor with purpose. Stays very active. Her dribbling has developed tremendously since her freshman season. She can drive the lane hard and effectively to the rim and score. Reads the floor well and made great passes in traffic to her open teammates for the score. Shes young (sophomore) but impacts the game at a high level. Jayda has a very high ceiling and should she continue developing her game the way she is she'll be a very sought after forward in the 2028 class.     What continues to impress me when I watch Sadie play is how comfortable she is with the physicality of the game. Despite only being a freshman, McRae is a high impact player for the Tigers and has great rebounding ability. In just 13 minutes McRae tallied up 9 rebounds against Tucson High. She was one rebound shy of her 10th game of having 10+ rebounds in a game. She moves with purpose and has a strong foundation. Shes fearless and she has, in my opinion proven to be one of the top prospects at her position in the 2029 Southern Arizona class.     Roebuck was very strong and very dominant in the post in this matchup. She plays aggressively and effectively. Hustled to make play after play to keep the Tigers in the game. She was able to back down her defender in the post and get the shots she wanted. Roebuck finished the game with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both well above her season averages. Roebuck has the frame, mentality and the skill to be a next level player. I was very impressed with her ability to make big plays when her team needed them most.     Contreras is a very intriguing player. She is very patient and sees the floor at a high level. She is a very effective rebounder and made some big plays which helped keep the Badgers ahead in the matchup. She knocked down some very crucial three pointers that slowed the Tigers down anytime they seemed to get some momentum going. Plays a very strong role for the Badgers and is very disciplined and mature in just her sophomore year. Plays very smart and with good intensity. Looking forward to getting the opportunity to see her play again.
