It is currently mid-season for women's basketball in Louisiana, and I would like to take this opportunity to highlight some of the dedicated athletes who have been diligently showcasing their skills on the court. We begin with [player_tooltip player_id='1307741' first='Laila' last='Rousell'], a member of the class of 2029, representing Westlake. Next, we have [player_tooltip player_id='943302' first='Kennedy' last='Aldridge'], from the class of 2027, representing University Laboratory. Following her is [player_tooltip player_id='489559' first='Asia' last='Patin'], from the class of 2026, representing Southern Lab. We also recognize [player_tooltip player_id='943325' first='Kaylie' last='Dupree'], from the class of 2027, representing Huntington, and [player_tooltip player_id='489569' first='Alanna' last='Benoit'], from the class of 2026, representing Mandeville. Congratulations are extended to [player_tooltip player_id='489559' first='Asia' last='Patin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='489569' first='Alanna' last='Benoit'] for achieving the remarkable milestone of joining the 2,000-point club in their high school careers. [player_tooltip player_id='1307741' first='Laila' last='Rousell'], a true freshman from the class of 2029, is currently playing for the Westlake High School Lady Rams. Laila is demonstrating exceptional basketball skills in her inaugural high school season. Her mid-season statistics are impressive, including 16.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.3 blocks, 2.3 steals, and 1.4 assists, with a shooting percentage of 58%. These statistics are outstanding for a freshman player. Beyond her athletic achievements, she also excels academically, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Laila is an elite post player, as evidenced by her statistics. She is a formidable presence under the rim, dominating the paint by securing second-chance points, finishing strongly, utilizing her footwork and post-up moves, and showcasing her ability to handle the ball, drive to the rim, or execute a mid-range floater. I will be keenly observing Laila's progress over the coming years.     [player_tooltip player_id='943302' first='Kennedy' last='Aldridge'], a point guard from University Laboratory's class of 2027, is currently ranked as the number one player in her position and the third-best in the state of Louisiana. Kennedy is a highly skilled point guard, as evidenced by her recent game statistics. In one game, she achieved 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals. In another, she recorded an impressive double-double with 27 points, 12 steals, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist. Her third game saw her score 32 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Finally, in her fourth game, she secured another double-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Based on these evaluations, Kennedy is averaging 27 points, 7.25 rebounds, 5.25 steals, and 1.5 assists. She is an elite scorer, capable of scoring from any position on the court. Furthermore, Kennedy demonstrates strong defensive capabilities, actively securing rebounds and forcing turnovers through effective ball pressure. Kennedy is an exceptional point guard who would undoubtedly be a valuable asset to any program at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='489559' first='Asia' last='Patin'] is an exceptional point guard, holding the top national ranking in her position and the third-place ranking in the state of Louisiana. She has committed to playing for McNeese State Division 1. Ms. Patin recently achieved another significant high school career milestone, surpassing 2,000 points and currently standing at 2,174 points, with her total still increasing. We extend our congratulations on her remarkable achievement and her dedicated efforts on the court.     [player_tooltip player_id='943325' first='Kaylie' last='Dupree'], a power forward for Huntington High School, is currently recognized as the top player in her position and ranks fourth in the state of Louisiana for the Class of 2027. On January 8, 2026, Kaylie delivered an exceptional basketball performance, achieving 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks, culminating in a double-double. Kaylie is an outstanding player on the court and an exceptional rim protector. Her impressive size, athleticism, strength, and power under the rim make her a formidable presence. Kaylie is considered a Division I prospect who could significantly contribute to any program at the collegiate level. Her attitude and effort are truly unparalleled. Kaylie presents a formidable defensive threat, and her scoring abilities are equally noteworthy; she is proficient at put-backs, strong in the paint, and consistent with her free throws and mid-range shots. Kaylie is an incredible athlete to observe on the court.     [player_tooltip player_id='489569' first='Alanna' last='Benoit'], an elite Combo guard, is currently ranked as the number one player in the state of Louisiana for the class of 2026. Alanna recently achieved a remarkable feat, scoring 23 points, securing 13 rebounds, and making 8 steals on the same evening she was honored for surpassing 2,000 points in her high school career. This accomplishment is a testament to her dedication and exceptional skill. We extend our congratulations on this achievement and the continued growth of her legacy.
