NJ Representation at Metro Classic

The girls of Blair Academy took the court Saturday to take on nationally ranked Westtown at the prestigious Metro Classic and yours truly was there to see the action live & in-person! The Bucs are no stranger to playing elite competition, so they were more than ready for this matchup! Here are some notes from the day:

Blair may have lost the game but Pri showed everyone exactly what she can do vs top tier talent; a game-high 21 points on versatile shooting. 3-level scoring was clicking; bodied defenders for points at the rim and stretched out to hit deep 2's and a confident-looking 3 ball. Her physical and aggressive interior play earned her multiple trips to the FT line. She was agile, energetic and loose.

Don't let her size fool you!! Mary played fearless basketball, going up against much taller opponents and never looking rattled. A scrappy and speedy 5'3" guard, she may have been the smallest on the floor but never showed signs of being intimidated. She pushed the pace and got the ball exactly where it needed to be, especially in the 1st quarter. Lots of hustle and confidence in her game.

Athena's athleticism shined in this one. The way she attacked the glass and secured rebounds, you would never know she's only listed at 5'9". Her ability to sky up for boards and play bigger than her size was a difference-maker, especially against a Westtown squad stacked with size at all positions. Her perimeter defense was also solid today, able to be disruptive and apply good ball pressure.

Isa's physicality under the basket and confidence stretching the floor made an impact for the Bucs this afternoon. A force inside, she used her strength to back down the defender and muscle up shots at the rim. She also did a great job grabbing her own miss for the put-back, being assertive and converting second chance points. She showed off range knocking down a triple and proved to be multi-dimensional on offense.

Bella was tasked with picking up different players on defense and held her own nicely. She did a nice job denying easy access to the lanes and forcing the opponent to either turn back or give up the ball. Whether it was guarding the perimeter or slipping back to clog the lanes, her efforts defensively were note-worthy.
