CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A late January Iowa Corridor contest here at Prairie High School Thursday night turned into an upset special, in terms of the rankings, at least. If you follow the league, however, you've learned that these things happen.

The Prairie Hawks entertained Class 5A fourth-ranked Iowa City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division game. The Little Hawks, winners of five in a row, topped Prairie, 65-39, in their Jan. 6 meeting in Iowa City.

Tuesday highlighted the landscape of the league in 2025-26. Most teams have lost when it looked like they would win according to previous results.

Prairie showed quickly that it wasn't going to be pushed around by the Little Hawks again. The home team came out of the gate fast and took a 27-15 lead into the halftime locker room.

As you'd expect, City gave itself chances to avoid having the tables turned on it. The Prairie Hawks would not be denied, however, answering every visitor run.

Here's a closer look at several student-athletes from the winning team followed by a photo gallery:

Worley was in her basketball bag during a late-January meeting with No. 4 Iowa City High. The junior led all scorers with 23 points, knocking down four of six attempts from behind the arc. The future UNI Panther also recorded eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and a pair of blocks. By the way, she didn't turn the ball over, at all. That's a game to put high on your resume. It highlighted her broad base of skills and efficiency. Worley limits mistakes and delivers winning plays. She scores on all three levels, possesses a deft handle and can get downhill in a hurry. Strength and quickness help her crash the boards and defend on the ball. Northern Iowa secured a commitment from a good one. But you already knew that. On this night, Worley felt the need to remind everyone, just in case.

Hadenfeldt, like she often does, proved to be a matchup problem for fourth-ranked Iowa City High went it traveled to Prairie for a late January MVC Valley Division clash. She's correctly listed as a power forward/small forward on this site. Hadenfeldt can pull slower opponents away from the basket and win or power through them in the paint. If you're not quick with your feet, she'll get by you off of the bounce. The Colorado College commitment sees the court well and finds open teammates when the defense focuses on her. Hadenfeldt rebounds well and is a versatile defender. In an upset of the Little Hawks, she posted 15 points and six rebounds.

Larsen stands out for as a well-rounded ball player capable of impacting the game in multiple areas. During a late January meeting with Iowa City High, the senior helped Prairie upset the No. 4 Little Hawks by committing to locking down on defense, finding open teammates and crashing the boards. The Northern Iowa pledge finished with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in a complete performance. Larsen flashes a smooth flow to her game. Height and long arms on the perimeter allow for defending multiple positions and success on the glass. They also help Larsen to generate clean looks over defenders and find open opportunities for others.

Johnson is a multi-sport athlete that played an important role in the Prairie hoops' upset of No. 4 Iowa City High in late January. The junior registered three points, making her lone field goal attempt, and added three rebounds and an assist. Johnson also chipped in on a stingy defensive effort by the Prairie Hawks. She's fast and athletic, which is why she contributed to the Prairie softball and track programs as a sophomore last year. Johnson looked like a player committed to winning on this night.
