Small School Stat Sheet Stuffers: Playmakers in Class 1A D-II

There is some great basketball being played by girls teams in lower classifications in the state of Georgia. Several players are putting up big numbers in leading their teams into the top 10 state rankings. These are some names to know down the stretch.    Bray has been getting buckets for a long time in Georgia. She is a very good shooter from behind the three point line and does a very good job getting downhill and attacking the basket. Bray is equally as effective shooting the ball from the midrange. She is having another impressive campaign as a Senior averaging 23.8 points per game for Warren County. Bray has the skill and experience, along with teammate JAilee Allen to lead her team to a deep run in the soon approaching Georgia state playoffs.     Mincey has continued to consistently put up impressive numbers averaging over 18 points and nearly 12 rebounds a game for Bryan County. She is a physically strong kid who is not afraid of contact. She is one of the more skilled post players in the smaller classifications and Mincey has the ability to control the paint for her team. She plays very well off of Mikell. Layla continues to work on extending her shooting range and will be even more effective the more consistent her midrange and three point shot becomes.     Mikell is another player from Bryan County having a big season in her last averaging 18.3 points and 4.5 assists per game. Mikell can score from all three levels, but her strength is getting into the paint and finishing or dropping the ball off to a teammate after drawing help from the defense. She is a very efficient finisher with floaters and short jumpers and has the strength to finish through contact at the rim.     Allen is averaging over 20 points per game for Warren County as a Senior and is a major reason her team finds itself in the top 10 rankings for the state of Georgia. Allen's stellar play this season and in particular as of late, has gained the attention of college coaches and she has been the recipient of multiple scholarship offers. I expect her stock to continue to rise throughout the state tournament with more school showing interest in the very talented combo guard.     Benjamin is putting together a very solid junior season for Wilcox County averaging almost 11 points and over 13 rebounds per game. Benjamin has very good size and athleticism that is evident when bigger defenders try to stay in front of her. Tyliah is long with quick leaping ability and moves well, specifically snatching missed shots off the glass. Benjamin has the ability to cause a lot of match up problems for teams playing Wilcox County in the region and state tournaments.     Martin is another player from Wilcox County who is having a very impressive season averaging almost 14 points per game while dishing out 3 assist per game and leading the number one ranked Lady Patriots. Martin has a knack for raising her game to another level when her team needs her. Shamauri has a lot of experience and is battle tested in the state tournament. I expect her and [player_tooltip player_id='926490' first='Tyliah' last='Benjamin'] to make it difficult on every other team in the classification trying to knock off the defending state champs from Wilcox.
