West Salem surprised some people, Century came close against Sherwood, and Southridge hung with Benson.

Here are my Top 12 Teams in 6A after Week 8:

1. Tualatin (14-1, 4-0)

Tualatin picked up three blowout wins in Week 8, dominating North Thurston (WA) 55-15 in an MLK Showcase, and Lake Oswego 83-25 and Tigard 85-26 in Three Rivers League games. The Timberwolves host Century in a ranked nonleague match on Monday, and St. Mary's in a regular-season game on Tuesday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DT313KCEiRK/

2. South Medford (14-2, 5-0)

South Medford should win the rest of its scheduled games. They picked up two blowout Southwest Conference road wins — 56-18 against North Medford and 58-13 against South Eugene. The Lady Panthers go to Roseburg on Tuesday and host North Medford for the second of two regular-season matchups.

3. West Linn (13-1, 3-0)

West Linn picked up two more blowout wins in the Three Rivers League — 69-19 against Lakeridge and 63-25 at Lake Oswego. The Lady Lions go to Tigard on Tuesday and host Oregon City on Friday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DTynGHEkmhF/

4. Benson (12-2, 7-0)

Benson defeated No. 5 Southridge 54-49 in a PIL MLK Invite at home. Power forward [player_tooltip player_id='1013457' first='Jayla' last='Lackey'] did not play due to illness. The Lady Astros picked up two more dominant Portland Interscholastic League wins — 63-39 against Cleveland and 81-31 at Lincoln. They should win out the rest of their schedule. Next up for the Lady Astros is a nonleague home game against Mountainside on Tuesday and a road game at Roosevelt on Friday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DTuSncQFDFs/?img_index=1

5. Southridge (9-6, 2-0)

Southridge bounced back after the narrow loss to Benson with a strong Metro League win, 61-35, at Westview. The Skyhawks stay on the road next week with Sunset on Tuesday and Mountainside on Friday.

6. Nelson (9-6, 4-0)

Nelson had two dominant home wins against playoff-caliber teams in the Mt. Hood Conference — 76-42 against Barlow and 66-40 against Clackamas. The team ball is on, everyone is contributing, and [player_tooltip player_id='832544' first='Nylah' last='Webster'] has found her drive, dish, and stroke. It was a shaky start to the season, but things are looking up for Nelson, who has what it takes to win the rest of its schedule. The Hawks go to David Douglas on Tuesday and Central Catholic on Thursday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DT6Qm50ko9x/?img_index=1

7. Sherwood (13-3, 4-0)

Sherwood hung on, 52-45, in a pivotal Pacific Conference win over No. 12 Century after the Jaguars erased at least a 7-point lead to level the score halfway through the fourth quarter. The Bowmen went on to dominate Liberty 69-12 and currently stand alone at the top of the league table. They host league rival Newberg on Tuesday and No. 9 West Salem for a nonleague matchup on Friday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DT2-7AlFNAH/?img_index=1

8. Jesuit (10-5, 2-0)

Jesuit defeated Mountainside 45-29 and dominated Sunset 75-19 to start its Metro League campaign. The Crusaders host Westview on Tuesday and Beaverton on Friday.

9. West Salem (9-8, 3-0)

The Titans surprised some people by defeating South Salem 69-51 on the road in a highly anticipated Central Valley Conference matchup. West Salem went on to defeat Sprague 50-36 at home in a game that was closer than the final score indicates, as the Olympians were within 3 points early in the fourth quarter. The Titans go to No. 7 Sherwood on Friday for a 6A showdown.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DTxyIeOFOAt/?img_index=1

10. South Salem (13-2, 2-1)

South Salem fell to rival West Salem despite transfer [player_tooltip player_id='921583' first='Chica' last='Casas']'s strong effort (20 points and 4 steals) to lead her team in a comeback. The Saxons got within 7 points late in the third quarter, but the Titans' [player_tooltip player_id='1223934' first='Johanna' last='Diaz'] hit a three-pointer to end the frame and put her team back up by double digits. South Salem bounced back to defeat McNary 57-33. The Saxons host Lakeridge for a nonleague game on Tuesday and return to Central Valley Conference play on Friday with an away match against Sprague.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DT4b0WaDjOl/?img_index=1

11. Clackamas (11-3, 3-1)

Clackamas blew out Reynolds 81-9 and lost to Nelson 40-66. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='1582127' first='Ava' last='Nguyen'] had a strong start to the game against the Hawks, but was helped off the court in the second quarter due to an apparent injury and did not appear to return to the game. The Cavaliers go to Sandy on Tuesday and host Gresham on Thursday.

12. Century (8-6, 2-1)

Century hung with Pacific Conference rival Sherwood through four quarters in a 45-52 loss that came down to the last minute. They followed it up with a 51-42 win at Newberg. The Jaguars go to Tualatin for a nonleague game on Monday. They return to regular-season play with a road game at Liberty on Tuesday and a home game against McMinnville on Friday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DT9C7QZAT6V/
