Class B 2026 Playoff First Round- Players to Watch

The basketball playoffs are currently underway in Louisiana, with the initial round of Class B games scheduled from February 17-19, 2026. We anticipate excellent basketball matchups across all parishes hosting these first-round games. The ranked pairings include (16) Avoyelles Public Charter vs. (17) Oak Hill, (13) Holden vs. (20) Hicks, (14) Weston vs (19) Simsboro, (15) Family Community vs Castor. Ms. Hickman is a remarkably talented and youthful basketball player. I have been diligently following her and her teammates throughout the entire season, and they have consistently engaged in excellent and hard-fought games. Despite being only in the 8th grade at the time of this evaluation, Ms. Hickman demonstrates an exceptionally elite level of play at the point guard position, coupled with a very high basketball IQ. She presents a significant threat on the court when she possesses the ball; if she isn't scoring from various distances, she is skillfully assisting her teammates with precise passes and feeding her post players. Ms. Hickman is recognized as one of the top players in her class of 2030, and I encourage you to observe her performance in the first round. We wish them the best of luck.     Braylee Cedus, a forward for the Oak Hill High School Lady Rams, currently wears jersey number 20 and is a member of the class of 2027. Braylee is a valuable role player for her team, which is presently ranked 17th in the LHSAA playoff bracket. She excels as an inside scorer and is adept at securing offensive rebounds for put-back baskets. In addition to her impressive offensive skills, Braylee is a formidable presence on defense, consistently grabbing rebounds and demonstrating her ability to disrupt opponents. Her strong presence in the paint ensures that opponents must work diligently for every point, as she is an excellent enforcer and protector.     Lazorreya Davis, a point guard for the Simsboro High School Lady Tigers, currently wears jersey number 1 and is a member of the class of 2030. Simsboro is presently ranked 19th in the LHSAA women's basketball playoffs bracket. Lazorreya's ability to maintain court awareness and effectively pass to open teammates is truly impressive. She consistently finishes strong during fast breaks, driving forcefully to the rim and often drawing fouls for easy free throw opportunities. Additionally, Lazorreya is capable of making three-point shots when given space, demonstrating her versatility as a three-level scorer. It is noteworthy that she is an eighth-grader who is not only receiving varsity playing time but also making a significant impact. Lazorreya's aggressive on-ball defense frequently pressures ball handlers into turnovers, leading to quick fast break transitions.     Brylee Cox is currently playing point guard for the Lady Tigers of Castor High School, wearing jersey number 00, and is a member of the class of 2029. Her team is presently ranked 18th in the LHSAA women's basketball bracket. Brylee is an exceptional player on the court. She demonstrates excellent ball-handling skills, enabling her to bypass defenders and score at the rim or step out to the arc to successfully make a three-point shot. Brylee is also a selfless player, consistently passing to open teammates or creating space with her dribbling abilities. She possesses a high basketball IQ, which further assists her on the defensive side of the ball, allowing her to intercept weak passes mid-air and effectively play the lanes. She is truly a floor general on the hardwood.     Kattie Grace Quinn, wearing jersey number 14, is a center for the Lady Pirates of Hick High School and is a member of the class of 2029. Kattie performs her role exceptionally well on the talented Hicks women's basketball team. Standing over 6 feet tall, Kattie Grace is a formidable presence in the paint and an excellent rim protector, often causing opposing offenses to reconsider driving to the basket to avoid having their shots blocked. Kattie is also an elite rebounder and adept at put-backs, in addition to possessing a commendable mid-range shot. Her post moves and footwork are truly a pleasure to observe. Kattie Grace is expected to play a significant role in Hick High School's playoff aspirations.
