HOBBS, N.M. — The Hobbs Eagles continued their relentless roll, cruising to a decisive 63-16 victory over the visiting Roswell Coyotes in a 5A District 4 matchup Tuesday night at home.

Hobbs (20-2), riding a 10-game winning streak and averaging 58.1 points per game under head coach Joe Carpenter, controlled the contest from tip-off and never trailed. They dictated tempo against a Roswell squad (now 8-14) mired in a 10-game skid and struggling to find rhythm under head coach Daniel Smith.

Both teams deployed 2-3 zones early, but Hobbs flipped the script with a tenacious full-court press that disrupted Roswell's half-court sets and forced turnovers under heavy on-ball pressure.

The Eagles burst out to a 7-0 lead and took a 17-6 advantage after the first quarter. By halftime, Hobbs led 25-9. They poured it on in the third, outscoring Roswell 21-5 to take a commanding 46-14 lead into the fourth. Hobbs' defense was suffocating, holding opponents to 30 or fewer points for the third straight game.

The Eagles lit up from deep, knocking down 13 three-pointers, and balanced scoring with nine players contributing. Three reached double figures: [player_tooltip player_id='583274' first='Kacelynn' last='Muniez'] led all scorers with 12 points, draining threes with deadly accuracy; Xoey Ross added 11 points on three triples; and [player_tooltip player_id='831119' first='Matysen' last='Zepeda'] chipped in 10 points with scoring at multiple levels.

For Roswell, senior Adamaris Vasquez provided a bright spot with a team-high 9 points, hitting three three-pointers. She also battled on the boards and showed poise bringing the ball upcourt, using her frame to shield defenders amid the pressure — one of the few Coyotes to consistently handle the intensity.
