[player_tooltip player_id='1222630' first='Cyianna' last='Smith'] (Cover Photo) flat-out took over the game from the defensive end of the court. At 5'9, she met drives at the rim, and blocked shots clean out of the air. At times she openly challenged the opponents to score and rejected their attempts away. Here ability to elevate, track the ball, and block the shots without fouling was impressive. Smith finished the game with 8 blocks and every block shifted momentum in her team's favor. Her team erased a double digit deficit behind Smith's incredible performance and even briefly took the lead. In addition to taking shots out the air, the junior forward also scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Two more blocked shots and Smith finishes with a triple double. Even with her team coming up on the short end in a game that was physical and low scoring, Smith was the best overall talent on the floor, and that's saying a lot considering the high level of athleticism on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1778646' first='Hattie' last='Locklin'] was a matchup problem all game. Locklin possessed a strong frame, good size, and physicality around the rim. She scored through contact, converted multiple three-point play opportunities, and lived on second-chance points. What separated her was her ability to put the ball on the floor — she attacked off the bounce, used a crossover in space, and created mismatches against slower and smaller forwards. Defensively, she denied entry passes, protected the rim with several blocks and cleaned the glass. She productive on both ends of the floor and the opponent wasn't able to match her size and physicality.

[player_tooltip player_id='1136118' first='Reah' last='Saunders'] put in a solid performance as her team went down fighting. Saunders controlled the pace on the offensive side of the ball and her speed and quickness were the focal points of the opposition. She got to the rim a few times and showed an ability to connect on the perimeter when the defense gave her space. Saunders still repeatedly penetrated and repeatedly drew the double team. She had some nice assists and facilitated numerous quality looks for her teammates. On defense she was disruptive and forced a 10 second count and a change of strategy to deal with her pressure on the ball. Saunders played well in her second trip to the final four and she still has four more opportunities to return- the talented guard is just an 8th grader.

[player_tooltip player_id='1781241' first='Lucy' last='Locklin'] provided a defensive presence and played a major role coming off the bench. The center was fundamentally sound and composed and her height and length caused problems all game long. Lockling She didnt rush possessions and did a good job of getting great position on the court. She finshed efficiently around the rim (4-7 FG) and ran the floor well in transition. She rebounded well and was a strong interior anchor on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1781228' first='Presley' last='Hawthorne'] showed strong composure under pressure. Facing heavy ball pressure from Saunders, Hawthorne competed and kept her team organized and composed. The guard displayed a virtual skillset: She advanced the ball confidently, changed pace effectively, used a strong step-through in traffic, and showed a nice touch with a floater in the lane. Hawthorne's ability to create off the dribble, and finish in different ways made her a standout in the semifinals.
