From Work Trips to Tip-Offs: Lights-Out Shooters

I'm getting a little behind on these, but last week with KATV, I traveled to Plainview, Scott, Star City, North Little Rock, Benton, and East End. Plainview is a part of the Two Rivers School District, and though Scott has Scott Charter, I was unable to find much information on their players, so I will talk about someone from the next closest school to Scott: NLRHS. East End is a part of the Sheridan school district, and on the way there, I drove right past Bauxite High School, so I will highlight a player from there as well.    Two Rivers has struggled this year, by Lydenrose Templin has been automatic from beyond the arc.   Templin has had some solid scoring outings this year, including double-digit scoring performances against Atkins (11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals) and Perryville (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals), which are two teams in higher classifications than Two Rivers.   In both contests, Templin connected on multiple triples. She has a bit of an unorthodox shot that looks like she just throws it at the basket, but she gets a lot of arc on those shots, and her releases are quick, and she hits them.   Lydenrose Templin is a solid piece for this Lady Gator team, and besides her shooting, she is a good defender with a nose for forcing turnovers.     [player_tooltip player_id='876332' first='Jaliyah' last='White'] is notable for her defense, but she is also a solid 3-point shooter, cementing herself as one of the better 3&D players in the 6A Central.   White had some strong games earlier this month, with one against Cabot where she put up 12 points and 4 steals/deflections. She did not miss a single shot in that contest. Around that same time against Conway, White put up 11 points, 5 assists, and another strong defensive showing with a combined 8 steals and deflections.   On offense, defenses have to keep an eye on White, especially is she is posted up in the corner. If she has space and receives a pass, she will not hesitate to shoot, and it usually results in a splash. Then as soon as she sees the ball rip through the net, she immediately gets ready to play some lockdown defense.   [player_tooltip player_id='876332' first='Jaliyah' last='White'] has been an excellent piece of North Little Rock this year, and I truly believe she has a college basketball future.     [player_tooltip player_id='1196131' first='Cora' last='Rambin'] has put together a solid senior campaign, and she has also looked like one of the better shooters out of the 4A-8 this season.   Just this past week, Rambin averaged 7 points, 6 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 3 deflections a game while shooting 58% from the field and 40% from downtown. One of her better statlines this year was against Hamburg, where she scored 13 points, pulled down 7 boards, and came away with 4 steals while knocking down a couple of threes.   She is usually good for at least one triple a contest. Rambin has a great jumper, and she is great off the catch. Her shot is fundamentally sound, and she has a quick release and good arc on it.   [player_tooltip player_id='1196131' first='Cora' last='Rambin'] is a consistent shooter who provided Star City with steady play on both ends of the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='1092589' first='Stella' last='Lasseigne'] is a true sniper from outside for the Lady Mustangs, which is no surprise to the opposition in the 2A-5.   Lasseigne is an automatic shooter who is deadly off the catch. If she gets just a little bit of space, she will not hesitate to pull it from outside, and with as much arc as she puts on those shots, she they usually go straight through the nets.   There are not many teams who have great catch-and-shoot 3-point marksmen, and CAC has one in Lasseigne. Her range is extensive and she has a very quick release.   [player_tooltip player_id='1092589' first='Stella' last='Lasseigne'] is one of the best pure 3-point shooters in the 2A classification, and she is able to help spread their offense out every time she is on the floor.     PSA: [player_tooltip player_id='1060899' first='Brooklyn' last='Kuchinski'] is no longer at Bryant, she is hooping for the Benton Lady Panthers this year, averaging 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 45% from the field, 73% from the charity stripe, and 38% from beyond the arc.   Kuchinski has been averaging 24 points a contest during conference play, and she met her average against Lake Hamilton in January, putting up 24 points and 7 rebounds. Though Kuchinski has been at her best in her career driving to the basket, drawing fouls, and finishing through the contact, she has been playing with a different kind of swagger that she didn't play with at Bryant.   Her numbers are stellar, especially from the outside, and she is shooting more shots off the dribble. Since Kuchinski is Benton's primary offensive weapon, she is hounded by defenders, but it doesn't matter as she is able to get just enough separation to pull back and knock down some big time threes, even with a hand in her face. Her shooting release is quick, and she plays with a lot of confidence.   [player_tooltip player_id='1060899' first='Brooklyn' last='Kuchinski'] will not be #145 for much longer, as she has proved to be one of the most talented, yet underrated guards in the 5A classification.     [player_tooltip player_id='876342' first='Lilly' last='Reid'] is one of, if not the best, shooter in the state, and she has attracted a lot of college attention because of that.   She is coming off a 24-point, 10-rebound, 4-stock performance in one of Sheridan's last conference games of the year. She has had plenty of other double-double performances including a 26-point, 10-rebounds, 5-stock outing and then 19 points, 11 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks against El Dorado.   Reid has proven to be a solid player in the high post thanks to her excellent touch on tear-drops and hooks, but she is even better when shooting from 30 feet. She has such a quick and high release that it is incredibly difficult to block her shot. And naturally, if she gets an open look from beyond the arc, she is almost guaranteed to hit it.   [player_tooltip player_id='876342' first='Lilly' last='Reid'] will go down as one of the best 3-point snipers in state history, but you cannot forget how dominant she can be in other parts of the game.     Samara Seymour is more than just a shooter, but I feel that this is an area of her game where she can continue to elevate, and she will instantly become a lethal shooter each time down the floor.   Seymour is great on defense. She is tenacious and plays with heart, intercepting passes, forcing turnovers, and grabbing rebounds over taller players. She is also crashing the glass on offense thanks to her high-energy play and ability to never give up on a play. Her athleticism is also noteworthy, which is part of why she is such an effective slasher.   Of course, Seymour is someone you cannot leave open from the perimeter. She is capable of knocking down shots off the catch, particularly on the wing and in the corner. She also has good arc on her jumpshot.   Samara Seymour is turning into a solid 3&D player who will turn into a star soon, and she will also be making her way into the rankings.
