Middle School Regional Semi-Final Game Notes: Houston vs Appling 

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's tough to play a basketball game when you have been locked down in the house for over a week due to a snow storm. There is the possibility of a lack of continuity within the team and a level of fatigue. Unless you are Houston, because they looked as if they hadn't missed a beat.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It took both teams the first quarter to adjust to being back on the court and to the defensive pressure both enforced. The score was 8-4 after 1 with Appling leading.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The second quarter Houston broke out and out scored Appling 13-1 to take an 8 point lead and a 17-9 halftime score. They never let up from that point. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Houston's defensive pressure is intense. They have length. Everyone plays with active hands. They pressed full court. Offensively, she is the primary ball handle. However, what she did defensively in the game is what stood out. She is long and active on defense to the point that she gets deflections and a lot of steals. A LOT! She plays on the inbounder while pressing and at the top of the zone in the half court.&nbsp; My unofficial numbers for her tonight was 7 steals.
