Championship Day Standouts at the IHSA State Finals

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The final day of the season arrives for every team, but only a few get the chance to play for a state championship. In Class 1A, Dee-Mack and Mt. Pulaski battled with a title on the line, while Breese Central and Byron squared off in the 2A championship. The 3A title game featured Washington and Glenwood, and in 4A, it was Loyola and Nazareth meeting again, with the biggest prize of the season on the line. Below are the players who stood out from each game.</h3>    Durbin came up big in the championship game. From beyond the arc, she did not miss, and the shots she took were momentum shifting threes with no hesitation when she let them go. A player like this will continue to be a big part of her program going into her last season. | 11 pts, 3-3 from the three, 4 rebs, and 4 rebs     If you want to go the distance, you need someone willing to sacrifice parts of their game for the team, and that is what Austin brings to this program. With the skillset to put up big numbers, she instead settles into her role and finds ways to impact the game in multiple areas. She is present on the boards, not afraid to shoot the long ball when space opens up, and in transition, she rarely drops a pass. A true needle mover for this group. | 7 pts & 10 rebs.     What Santel brings to this team is a player who doesn't need plays drawn up for her, but can simply score within the flow of the game. Whether it's off clean ups near the rim, or simple cuts from the screens she's setting. She can find her way into any system. A glue piece type of player. | 13 pts & 9 rebs     Each year, Towne has brought a different impact to this Nazareth program, and this season she has stepped into the role of a playmaker. Her ability to stretch the floor commands a ton of attention and pulls the defense all the way out. But if they come too far, she has the quickness to get by, draw the defense, and create for others. | 17 pts, 5 asts, 4 rebs     McDougall is one of the more versatile players you will come across. She has the skill set to do more than she is often tasked with, but the unselfishness and adaptability of her game allow everything to blend together. Throughout her career, she has had plenty of moments that show the type of player she is. Today did not suddenly make that clear. It has always been clear.
