Class of 2029 Updated College Prospect Rankings: The Top 5

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">First year in the books for the <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/illinois/rankings/2029-watch-list/">Class of 2029.</a> These updated college prospect rankings come after the completion of their freshman seasons and reflect the growth shown throughout the year, their impact on winning games, and the roles they played in their teams deep playoff runs. Stats, all-conference honors, and even all-state awards do not hold true value when it comes to these movements. Once again, the quality of the competition matters, and how players perform when the level rises carries far more weight in these evaluations. Below are the Top 5 prospects in the 2029 class. </h3>    Johnson has completely separated herself from the pack and has entered the national spotlight when it comes to top talent in this 2029 class. She has all the physical attributes of a legit college prospect. The atheltocosim, the agility, and the overall strength she has at this age only point towards high potential. Her skill set is strong, though there's more room for improvement. She has completely dominated her first season.     McDougall has always been a player with high potential. Joining a strong program with four established standouts meant her opportunities early on were limited, but when her moments came, she made them count. The talent shows in how naturally she blends her individual skill into the team's flow, while still flashing the ability to take over when needed. There were several moments this season where you could see just how special she can be. This spring and summer should give her the chance to play more aggressively, and that's when the upside really starts to show.     Gage capped off her first year with a state championship, and she wasn't just along for the ride. Joining a top tier program and stepping right into a starting role is no easy task, but she held her own all season. A majority of the highlights and evaluations surrounding Mia focus on her scoring ability, but what stood out to me was her IQ on the defensive end. She's a true two way player who will only continue to grow.     From a physical and athletic standpoint, James has that needle mover, and it's a strong foundation to continue building her skillset on. Offensively, she has the three level ability to be a threat, and the confidence is there as well. There are definitely flashes of a strong playmaker in her game too. She'll always be able to hang her hat on the defensive end of the floor. She's long, active, and trusts her instincts a majority of the time.     In the games Calhoun played, you were able to see her impact in most possessions she was involved in. In the games where she had a larger role, it really showed the potential Calhoun has over the next couple of years. The scoring component is there, and it's strong, and on the defensive end, she can deal with bigger guards or wings because of her frame. A player to definitely keep up with when AAU kicks off.
