Delta vs Chadwick (Class 1 at Van Buren)

In recent years, these two teams have met up in the sectionals like clockwork and the winner usually goes on to the Final Four of the state tournament. In 2024, Delta won a thriller over Chadwick in a crowded gym at Chadwick and went on to finish third in the state tournament. Last year, Chadwick returned the favor at Delta and went on to win the state championship.

Tonight should be another exciting one at Van Buren. Delta defeated an excellent Bunker team to win the district championship. The Bobcats have an excellent inside-outside duo in 5'10" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='982948' first='Grace' last='Ancell'] and 5'3" 2029 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1275369' first='Lilly' last='McDonough']. Ancell is a veteran who as been through the postseason battles, but he it was the diminutive McDonough who came up big in the district finals with 19 points and the game-winning shot against Bunker. The Cardinals are once again led by the Landry sisters, Emily and Macy, a pair of talented 2027 guards. They combined to score 43 points in the victory over Couch in the District 2 championship game.

What I like about both teams is that they like to get out and apply full court pressure to opposing teams. So, I fully expect both teams to get after each other tonight.

Ash Grove vs Skyline (Class 3 at Liberal)

After winning the past two Class 2 state championships, Skyline has moved up to Class 3 this season. The Lady Tigers are still in play for a three-peat as they moved into sectional play after a solid 74-50 victory over Butler to win another district title. Skyline is young, but it hasa strong program where the players understand how to win and the roles that they play in that team success. They are led by 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1117235' first='Shelby' last='Redd'], who has emerged from a key reserve to a prime time player.

Ash Grove has been simmering for the past couple of years with its impressive young talent. Their inside-outside combination of [player_tooltip player_id='777608' first='Bristol' last='Lathrop'] and [player_tooltip player_id='848994' first='Millison' last='Sapp'] is one of the best in the SWMO area. Lathrop is a 6'1" 2027 forward who can play inside or on the perimeter. Sapp is a 5'7" 2027 guard with three-level scoring ability.

Iberia vs Norwood (Class 2 at Marshfield)

This is an intriguing Class 2 sectional matchup in the SWMO area. Norwood has been a staple in postseason play in recent years as they have made back to back Final Four appearances. They feature an impressive young guard is 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1226679' first='Kalie' last='Chadwell'] and a versatile post player in 6'1" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='982952' first='Gentry' last='Devault']. [player_tooltip player_id='509635' first='Addy' last='Gray'] is a 2026 guard who can also shoot it from 3-point range.

Iberia field a talented team from the Frisco League. The Rangers have an excellent young guard is 5'9" 2028 Ansley "Grace" Martin, who averages 17 points a game and can play anywhere on the court. Jaylyn Piggott and Paige Russell are a pair of 2027s who also share in the scoring load.

Portageville vs Chaffee (Class 2 at Clarkton)

Portageville has quietly built a strong program that is one of the best small schools in the SEMO area. They are back in Class 2 after a Final Four appearance in Class 3 last season. They were in the Class 2 state quarterfinals in 2025. The Bulldogs have good size up front with 5'11" All-State 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1235028' first='Glo' last='Farmer'] and 6'0" 2026 Maggie Priggel inside. Handling the perimeter duties is 5'9" 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1235029' first='Taryn' last='Irby'] who can shoot it from 3-point range.

I got a look at Chaffee in late December at the FSCB Christmas Tournament and was impressed with what I saw. They bring a 21-6 record into tonight's sectional game. They have a pair of talented 2027s in forward [player_tooltip player_id='1231731' first='Kiersten' last='Arnold'], who is tough inside and versatile forward Carlyanne Cossou, who has length and athleticism. The Lady Devils also get perimeter shooting from 2028s Jersie Lynn and Millie Carroll.

Greenwood vs Marionville (Class 2 at Crane)

Another good matchup in the SWMO area is on tap as Marionville looks for another berth in the state quarterfinals. The Lady Comets battled past conference rival Miller in a one-point thriller to win a district championship. They have one of the top guards in the region in 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1097050' first='Lanie' last='Stokes'], who hit the game winner in the district final. She is a three-level scoring threat who loves the big moment. [player_tooltip player_id='1233823' first='Dally' last='Pomeroy'] is another talented 2027 guard while 5'10" 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1752561' first='Rylie' last='Fletcher'] has emerged as a force on the inside.

Greenwood is back in the postseason mix after winning its first district championship in 25 years. They played some serious defense in holding Blue Eye to 25 points in the championship game. Greenwood was led by xx Alyssa Newman with 18 points against Blue Eye. Guard [player_tooltip player_id='773861' first='Elif' last='Benzer'] is another talented player who has had a big senior season.
