Heated rivalries, PACKED gyms, and bragging rights that carry into next season… this is Kentucky basketball at its core! The 4th District Tournament had it all, energy, intensity, and clutch moments from start to finish as teams emptied the tank with everything on the line!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The semifinals, hosted by Marshall County, set the tone immediately! The home team came out locked in defensively and completely took over, rolling past Murray High School 57-28. From the opening tip, the Lady Marshalls controlled the game and never gave an inch! In the other semifinal, Calloway County handled business against West Carter, punching their ticket to a championship showdown everyone had been waiting on. Two familiar teams. One final stage. EVERYTHING to play for!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marshall County entered the title game with a 5-2 district record, while Calloway County came in at a perfect 7-0 in district play. The Lady Lakers had taken both regular season matchups in defensive battles, setting the stage for what looked like another grind it out game… but championships are about who shows up in the moment!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And this one DELIVERED!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a tight, back and forth battle, Calloway County found a way to get it done, edging Marshall County 33-31 to secure their first district championship since the 2023-2024 season! Every possession mattered, every stop was crucial, and when the moment got biggest, the Lady Lakers answered in a BIG way!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Calloway County saw several BIG time performances throughout the tournament!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Senior [player_tooltip player_id='494359' first='Sayler' last='Lowe'] led the way with 13 points and 4 rebounds in the championship, going a perfect 100% from the free throw line! She has been the engine all season long, finishing as the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 20.4 ppg and 8.6 rpg!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Senior [player_tooltip player_id='761880' first='Jaidan' last='Koch'] delivered a HUGE performance, pouring in 20 points with 3 rebounds while also shooting 100% from the line! Koch has been one of the most consistent scorers all year, averaging 17.4 ppg and 5.6 rebounds while leading the team in both three-pointers and free throws made!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>8th grader [player_tooltip player_id='1242646' first='Josie' last='Haynes'] stepped up in a BIG way, finishing with 15 points and knocking down a team-high three shots from deep! Defensive intensity. Clutch moments.
