WIAA State Tournament: 1A Quarterfinal Breakdown

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best Overall Team</h2>   Zillah Leopards   Zillah delivered the most dominant overall performance of the quarterfinal round with a convincing 60-24 win over Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls). The Leopards shot 60 percent from the field and built a 25-7 lead after the first quarter, setting the tone early and never allowing Lakeside to settle in offensively.   The defensive effort was just as impressive. Zillah held Lakeside to just 9-of-51 shooting from the field and forced difficult shots throughout the game. When a team controls both efficiency and defense like that in a quarterfinal, it sends a strong message to the rest of the bracket.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Most Dominant Victory</h2>   King's Knights def. Seton Catholic Cougars 54-36   King's delivered one of the most dominant stretches of the round during the middle quarters, turning an early deficit into a comfortable win. After trailing early, the Knights used a 21-2 run to seize control of the game and never looked back.   The Knights also forced 20 turnovers and converted those mistakes into 24 points. That type of defensive pressure and transition scoring created separation and allowed King's to dictate the pace for the rest of the game.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Biggest Surprise</h2>   Royal Knights def. Bellevue Christian Vikings 51-42   Royal secured one of the most notable wins of the round with a strong defensive performance against Bellevue Christian. The Knights held the Vikings to just 14-of-38 shooting and limited one of the bracket's top offenses to 42 points.   The game remained tight through three quarters before Royal pulled away in the fourth. Their rebounding and second-chance scoring proved to be the difference late.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Impact Players from the Round</h2>    Klitzke delivered the top scoring performance of the round with 20 points and 10 rebounds in Zillah's win. She shot 7-of-10 from the field and added five free throws while controlling the glass.   Her ability to score efficiently while rebounding at a high level helped Zillah dominate from the opening quarter.     Valadez added 14 points while knocking down four three-pointers. Her perimeter shooting helped Zillah stretch the defense and create offensive separation early in the game.   When a guard can consistently convert from deep in a tournament game, it forces defenses to adjust and opens the floor for the rest of the offense.     Fritts produced one of the most complete stat lines of the round with 20 points and 12 rebounds. She also converted 14-of-18 free throws and added five assists while helping Lynden Christian survive an overtime battle against Annie Wright.   Her ability to control the game at the free throw line proved critical in overtime possessions.     Dykstra added 18 points while knocking down four three-pointers. Her perimeter shooting helped Lynden Christian maintain offensive momentum during key stretches of the game.   When a guard can consistently stretch the defense from deep, it provides valuable spacing late in close tournament games.     Anderson delivered a dominant interior scoring performance with 25 points and 13 rebounds in King's victory. She shot 10-of-19 from the field and added five free throws while controlling the paint.   Her scoring and rebounding helped the Knights turn the game around after the opening quarter and secure a decisive quarterfinal win.
