Summer Hoops Radar Watch: Class of 2028 Shooting Guards

The summer hoops season is underway, and many players are already standing out. Here are five shooting guards in the class of 2028 who could have an impressive summer of basketball and gain real momentum going into their junior school seasons.    In her sophomore season for Forrest High School, [player_tooltip player_id='1207059' first='Baeliy' last='Grace Stalnecker'] was constantly making an impact on the defensive end.   Stalnecker at 5'11" is an outstanding perimeter defender. She is able to move her feet at an elite level, and her hand-eye coordination is also above-average. Because of this, she can time up defenders' dribble moves well and generate steals on occasion. Last season, Stalnecker had several games with three or more steals, including a four-steal game against Loretto High School.   On offense, Stalnecker is a great inside scorer and can score off the dribble. She is especially a good scorer in fastbreak scenarios. While driving downhill, she has a high-level euro step she can go to to create space.     [player_tooltip player_id='807084' first='Harper' last='White'] had some really good moments in her sophomore season for Maryville High School.   White played one of her better games against Alcoa High School, showcasing her versatile scoring skillset, as she can score on all three levels. She can score off the dribble on pull-up jumpers. She also has good off-ball movement and can flare out and knock down 3-pointers. On the inside, White can score through traffic and can generate open shots on spin moves and other post moves.   White is also a good perimeter defender, as more often than not, at least one steal is next to her name on the stat sheet at the end of games.     [player_tooltip player_id='858130' first='Josie' last='Crabtree'] is a promising player on one of the best teams in the state of TN this past season, the York Institute.   Crabtree had many good moments in her sophomore season. The main area that stood out about her game was her perimeter shooting. Crabtree does a good job of rotating to open space and not hesitating when an open three presents itself.   One of Crabtree's better shooting games this past high school season was against Livingston Academy High School, where she made four 3-pointers. All of the long-range shots in the contest were made from catch-and-shoot actions.     [player_tooltip player_id='1210960' first='Ella' last='Gadsey'] is already having a strong start to her summer hoops season.   In a recent game against SGB VEAL, she continued to showcase her high-level perimeter-oriented game. She can create turnovers on the outside on defense, while also generating 3-pointers on offense on the outside. Gadsey notably does not get phased by closeouts or contests on her perimeter shots. She is also mainly a catch-and-shoot threat.   In a recent game against Memphis Idlewild White, she had five makes from distance, scoring a total of 18 points in the contest, and also had three steals.     [player_tooltip player_id='1039182' first='Stratton' last='Davis'] has some of the best versatility at the SG position in her class.   Davis can play anywhere on the court. She has the capability of taking over games with her 3-point shooting. But she can also create off the dribble. She can dribble in from the perimeter into a pull-up mid-range shot with ease. She can also work out of the high-post, dribble to the low block, and score with her non-dominant hand.   Davis' versatility is on the defensive end as well. With her speed and size, she can guard some posts and nearly all perimeter players on opposing teams from their point guard to their small forward.
