June showcase season for high school ball is one of the best early looks we get at what players could become for their program in the future. We usually see a lot of success by these younger prospects on the AAU scene leading into high school but that's when things switch up. For a handful of prospects June will show if they are ready to become leading scorers defenders, or breakout producers for their program when Winter arrives in a next few months. Lets meet six individuals that are sure to be household names by the time they get meaningful minutes of the Varsity floor.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

I have a feeling that Caylee Dickey of Cedar Falls High School is going to be someone that we mention A LOT over her career and especially early on with the Tigers this Winter. Dickey is a 5'10 SG/CG with a natural ability when the ball is in her hands. Offensively, with her size and age level at the moment she can post up anyone smaller and finish over them but she is more of a natural guard than anything else. She likes to pass the ball to start the possession and then get it back near the bucket for a take down-hill on either side of the basket. Defensively, with her mixture of height and athletic ability, she can switch onto all positions she is facing at her age level but she will move to defend the 2, 3, or 4 primarily on the Varsity floor. I'm hoping we see Dickey compete a few times over this next month of High School ball. She should be in the rotation right away, making an instant impact but we will just have to wait to see.

Emerson Goodheart already possesses impressive height for her age level and she has some of that raw ability while shooting the rock, just like her older sister Kennedy. Liberty will have a new coach this Winter but I think that plays into Goodheart's favor. If she can show her shooting stroke and she can use her height to create mismatches, she is going to be an intriguing piece within this program. She will needs to get some more experience in against live competition but the more she does that, the better off she will be in the long run. I'm excited to see how this Liberty group returns during June. With a new coach and system in place, their younger prospects should really have a chance to shine and that's going to create some waves throughout the state of Iowa at the 5A level.

It looks like Lewis Central is going to be getting another noteworthy producer this next season at the Forward position in 2030 - Harper Wilcox. I'm not sure if Wilcox will see the Varsity floor immediately but I wouldn't be surprised if she did. It's not everyday that you get a 5'10/5'11 SF as a Freshman. When you do, you need to make sure that they grow properly overtime and in some instances, you make that happen by playing them in meaningful minutes right away and letting them learn by trail. That's most likely going to be the move by Lewis Central with Wilcox here but we will get a better idea over the next few weeks when we see them take the floor in some shootouts and team camps.

Addie Bartolo has a flame thrower from deep, just like her older sister. She seems to be more of a natural PG but with her ability on and off of the ball, she can move to between the 1 or 2 spot coming down the floor in transition. She has a quick first step going either direction and she has better situational awareness than most others in her age group. BG is going to be missing a SG coming into this Winter and I think that Bartolo could play that role, while also bringing it down the floor off of rebound or an outlet from their bigs. She isn't the tallest individual out there competing but she makes up for that with heart and determination from what I've seen so far.

Over the last year we have been able to watch Georgie Duello at a handful of events across the Midwest and every time we see her, she seems to get better as a complete player, Duello isn't the type that is going to run you off the court or kill you with tricky moves. She plays efficient ball and uses her body contact to create at a high rate. She is fluid whenever she attacks from the outside and knows how to counter if she is ever cut off while trying to make her original move. Linn-Mar needs some help so I'm sure we will see Duello in June on their Varsity squad, doing what she can to help the cause.

TNT out of the quad cities has some players to keep an eye on. Another talented individual out of their 2030 Class is Ella Beason. I'm not sure where Beason will be competing for High School ball yet but she has demonstrated that she can produce on both sides of the ball as a 5'10 SG/PG. She doesn't need to have the ball in her possession for long amounts of time to make things happen and her size is something to note. She isn't the tallest but she has better than average size for her position + age level. I'm assuming Beason will compete for someone out of the QC's like Assumption High School with Danler, which would be a special duo, but we will have to see this month on the road just to confirm.
