Georgie Duello is a well-rounded source of production when she is playing with full confidence. She has balance, good foot work, she doesn’t need the ball for a long time to produce, and she doesn’t slouch when she defends. She is the type to score a quiet 15 PPG, where before you know it, she is filling up the stat sheet in all different positive statistical categories. This Winter Linn-Mar will return a lot of their producers from years past but that shouldn’t change a thing for Duello. If she plays her game, she will see meaningful minutes before you know it.

Over the last year we have been able to watch Georgie Duello at a handful of events across the Midwest and every time we see her, she seems to get better as a complete player, Duello isn’t the type that is going to run you off the court or kill you with tricky moves. She plays efficient ball and uses her body contact to create at a high rate. She is fluid whenever she attacks from the outside and knows how to counter if she is ever cut off while trying to make her original move. Linn-Mar needs some help so I’m sure we will see Duello in June on their Varsity squad, doing what she can to help the cause.

We first got our eyes on Duello last Spring in a showcase in Cedar Rapids. She came in and was one of the most sound players in the gym. I’m glad to report back that over her last 8th grade season of ball she has made great progressions while still being someone that plays the game fundamentally more than anything else. This is another guard that can GO. When she see’s a shot fall and she has that confidence, she is tough to stop, no doubt about that. Her work ethic is something else to point out. Duello puts in that work in her off-time. She is a gym rat and she loves the game of Basketball for what it is, which is a refreshing thing to see in today’s game.

Duello has a solid mixture of size, touch, awareness, and coordinated balance. She is crafty with how she can attack her defender, always having a counter-move or two up her sleeve. Over the next few years, this is a player that will make a difference at Linn-Mar High School in Cedar Rapids. Especially if she continues to get better with age and experience.

Duello was one of the smartest and most complete players that I had the chance of evaluating. She is coordinated going either direction off the dribble, she has several counter-moves to hit her opponent with if she is cut off, she can step out and hit three point shots when tightly contested, and she is one of the first on the floor for a loose ball when those opportunities present themselves – which all coaches love to see! Duello might not be one that stands out by her size or crazy athletic ability but overall, she is very complete in this game with a lot of promise.
