The Champion Center was full of great basketball action in the 15U division. Here are just a few of the players that stood out to me on day 1.

[player_tooltip player_id='1231061' first='Brooklyn' last='Viestenz']-[program_tooltip program_id='713127' first='Wisconsin' last='Legends'] Blue (Oconto)

Viestenz was one of the more complete offensive players on Saturday. She moved well, without the ball, and had a knack for finding the open spots on the floor where she knocked down two 3-pointers in the first half of the afternoon game. When covered closely, she proved that she is a three-level scorer, getting to the hoop, at will, showing a solid bag of spin moves and off-arm finishes and was active, on the boards, using her length to account for several first half rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1231071' first='Paige' last='Healy']-[program_tooltip program_id='713127' first='Wisconsin' last='Legends'] Blue (Fox Valley Lutheran)

FVL's Healy was one of the more complete all-around players that I had the opportunity to watch. Strong, physical player who brought the defensive intensity, moving her feet well and accounted for a number of steals. Led her team in scoring, in the first half with 13 points and was a force to keep off of the glass. Coming off of a freshman season, where she played limited minutes, I expect Healy will have a large role with the Foxes this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1223807' first='Audrey' last='Danler']-The New Threat Basketball (Assumption, IA)

Danler, out of Assumption HS (IA) was probably the best pure scorer that I watched on Saturday. She poured in 13 first half points where I don't thing any of her shots hit rim. Equally as deadly off of the dribble as she was with her feet set, the 5-9 Danler had her way getting to her spots, both from deep and mid-range showing a nice bag of spin move finishes. You can tell, by her long, athletic frame, that she is still growing and her athleticism showed, on defense, with good weakside anticipation and active hands that led to several steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='1231517' first='Anna' last='Reinhard']-[program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro'] 15U McCormick (Middleton)

Reinhard is listed at 5-8, but she plays much bigger than that on the defensive end. In the half I watched, her team was leading 31-12 mostly due to her defensive effort, including two blocks one of the "chase down" variety, on a fast break and several steals that led to transition buckets. Scoring 9, in the first half, Reinhard, coming off of a 11.3 ppg freshman season, showed the ability to not only knock down the long ball but to get into traffic and finish with either hand around and through contact.

ChaRie Brown-[program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro'] 15U EYCL Green (Whitnall)

Brown impressed me with her on-ball defensive intensity at a level that you do not see much at the youth level. Very quick and athletic player who gave whomever she was guarding fits with her active hands and relentless style. I am not sure how many steals she wound up with but I saw three just in part of the game I watched including a rip steal, on a layup attempt, and several others in transition. Once she got the ball, in her hands, she was a blur going to the hoop and always seemed to make the perfect pass to a cutting teammate.
