One of my favorite articles I've done repeatedly over the years is my "Mighty Mites" article. In this article, I like to highlight a handful of ladies whose listed height is that of 5-feet-4-inches or shorter. I want people to understand that, despite their height, these girls can play!! In this specific article, I have focused on a few from the 2028 class.

Maia is a fun watch for college coaches, because she is just solid in most areas of the game. She is a steady and poised ballhandler, she plays with her head up scanning the floor, and she gets the ball where it needs to go while playing with a little pace, too. She has solid strength at her size and does a nice job of playing on-balance and absorbing contact. At the defensive end of the floor, Maia plays with good positioning and awareness, and she is an effective rebounder for her size.

Emma is an absolute headache for opponents in Northeast Indiana. She is quick, wiry-strong, plus she has a motor. She's a cross-country runner, which helps her stay on the floor as long as she is needed. She can get on hot streaks from behind the 3-point line, she can break down defenses and finish in the paint, plus she is a willing facilitator. She also uses her quickness to get under opposing ballhandlers and frustrate them with her pressure. Emma averaged 16.1 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.7 steals per game this Winter.

I've mentioned Lily a couple of times recently, and she is a big influence on the offense at Elkhart Christian, helping them to the Semi-State round just a few months ago. She is long and wiry, quick, fast, and fluid athletically, and she is always around the basketball. She creates turnovers as a defender and flips the floor quickly creating layup opportunities. She is also an accurate 3-point shooter within their halfcourt offense. Lily has a solid handle and can initiate the offense, which is key because she'll likely be a point guard at the next level.

Dessi is the shortest player in this article, but, if possible, she plays much bigger than she is. She has good strength at her size, nice quickness that gives her the ability to split traps or turn the corner on defenders, and she does a nice job of playing compact and protecting the basketball when getting through traffic. Dessi can also knock down an open jumper consistently to keep defenses honest. Defensively, she has shown she can change a game by creating consecutive turnovers at times.

Jaida plays in one of the biggest, most talented conferences in the state, and she figured out a way to contribute in more than 20 minutes per game. She plays low and compact, utilizing her speed and quickness to explode at any moment, and she does a nice job of getting downhill to create offense for herself or teammates. Jaida is also a feisty defender, and she can create turnovers, flipping ends of the floor quickly. I think she has a chance to be a really nice small college recruit in the future.
