This weekend I had the privilege of being invited by Your Future Basketball to attend their first-ever Her Hoop Dreams ladies basketball combine. While they were more than appreciative of my attendance, I left feeling like I should be the one saying thank you, because what I witnessed wasn't just a combine. It was a statement, as I was introduced to a wave of talent outside the 757 that deserves attention. Here are the names you need to know.    Overview: An incredibly smart point guard who plays with a natural feel for the game, Williams operates like a coach on the floor. Her poise and understanding of spacing immediately stand out.   Skill Set: A true distributor with advanced court vision, Williams consistently makes the right reads and keeps the offense flowing. She's comfortable handling the ball under pressure and shows the ability to organize teammates in real time. While her outside shot still needs polish, she can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket when needed.   What Stood Out: What separated Williams was her ability to step into a group of unfamiliar players and instantly take control. No hesitation. No adjustment period. She processed the game quickly and made everyone around her better.   Projection: Williams projects as a lead guard to watch in the class of 2029. As she impacts winning through decision-making and control. As her perimeter shot continues to develop, her overall game will open up even more, making her a complete offensive threat.     Overview: One of the more intriguing prospects at the combine, Grassel brings a unique blend of physicality and untapped upside especially considering she's only been playing organized basketball for 18 months.   Skill Set: A physically dominant presence on the block, Grassel impacts the game through strength, lateral quickness, and motor. She rebounds at a high level, competes for position, and alters shots with her activity and toughness. Her agility allows her to move better than most players her size, giving her defensive versatility in the paint.   What Stood Out: What makes Grassel stand out isn't just the production—it's the timeline. For someone so new to the game, her instincts, physicality, and willingness to embrace contact are well ahead of schedule. She doesn't shy away from the dirty work.   Projection: Grassel is a high-upside post prospect whose ceiling will rise quickly with offensive development. As her footwork, touch, and overall polish continue to improve, she has the tools to emerge as a hidden gem in the Class of 2029.     Overview: An explosive point guard who puts constant pressure on the defense, Diamond is a downhill playmaker who thrives with the ball in her hands.   Skill Set: Elite first step and handle allow her to beat defenders off the dribble consistently. She finishes well around the rim and plays through contact, showing strength and control in traffic. A high-motor guard, Diamond is at her best attacking gaps, creating opportunities, and forcing defensive breakdowns. Her outside shot is still developing but shows flashes.   What Stood Out: Very few players at the combine could stay in front of her. Once she turned the corner, it was over. Her ability to collapse a defense and create advantages stood out possession after possession.   Projection: Diamond projects as a dynamic lead guard whose ability to get downhill will always translate. As her perimeter shot becomes more consistent, she'll become even harder to contain and a complete offensive threat.     Overview: A dynamic scoring guard with the ability to impact the game in multiple ways, Jones brings instant offense and positional versatility to the floor.   Skill Set: Jones can play either guard spot and score at all three levels. She's comfortable creating her own shot, attacking off the bounce, and knocking down perimeter looks. Beyond scoring, she shows the ability to facilitate and create opportunities for teammates, making her more than just a bucket-getter.   What Stood Out: Her ability to generate offense quickly. Whether in transition or half-court, Jones doesn't need much space or time to make something happen. She consistently put pressure on the defense with her scoring mentality.   Projection: Once Jones becomes a more consistent on-ball defender, her ceiling rises significantly. With her offensive skill set already in place, she has the potential to develop into a complete, high-level weapon.
