PGH MI State Tournament Knockdown Shooters

The PGH MI State Tournament brought a high level of talent to Grand Rapids this weekend, and throughout Saturday on Courts 1 and 2 at MSA Fieldhouse, there was no shortage of players who could really shoot the basketball. Across the 15U, 16U, and 17U divisions, several guards and wings stood out with their ability to space the floor, knock down shots from beyond the arc, and score with confidence from the perimeter. From catch-and-shoot threes to pull-up jumpers and timely baskets in key moments, these players consistently made defenses pay from the outside. Here are some of the knockdown shooters that stood out during Saturday action at the PGH MI State Tournament.    Gabi of Real Basketball showcased her shooting ability throughout Saturday action at the PGH MI State Tournament. She consistently knocked down shots from beyond the arc and proved to be a reliable perimeter threat every time she stepped into an open look. Gabi also did a strong job moving without the basketball, finding openings in the defense and putting herself in good scoring positions. One of her standout plays came on a well-timed backdoor cut that led to a strong finish at the rim, highlighting her feel for the game and ability to score in different ways.     Mckenzie of [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] Guenther put together a strong all-around performance during Saturday play at the PGH MI State Tournament. She showed confidence as a scorer from multiple levels, knocking down shots from beyond the arc while also being effective in the mid-range game. Mckenzie displayed good touch on her jumper and added an impressive turnaround shot that showcased her ability to create offense in different situations. Along with her scoring, she competed hard defensively and made an impact on that end of the floor with her effort and positioning.     Ruby of [program_tooltip program_id='1849321' first='Kalamazoo' last='Basketball Academy'] had a strong showing at the PGH MI State Tournament and made an impact in several areas throughout Saturday's action. She consistently connected on multiple shots from beyond the arc and proved to be a reliable perimeter scorer. Ruby also showed the ability to attack off the dribble and get downhill quickly, putting pressure on defenders when driving to the basket. Beyond her scoring, she played with a high motor, crashing the boards hard and competing for rebounds. Defensively, she stood out with her ability to guard the full length of the court and bring constant energy on that end.     Sofia of CCE impressed during Saturday action at the PGH MI State Tournament while competing up several grade levels. Despite facing older competition, she played with confidence and made a strong impact from the perimeter by knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc. Sofia also showed good playmaking instincts, creating opportunities for teammates with strong drive-and-kick passes after attacking the defense. On the defensive end, she turned steals into offense, pushing the ball coast-to-coast for transition scoring opportunities. Her poise, shooting ability, and overall feel for the game stood out throughout the day.     Ava of [program_tooltip program_id='714556' first='TC' last='Elite'] made her presence felt during Saturday play at the PGH MI State Tournament with her shooting ability and activity on both ends of the floor. She consistently knocked down perimeter shots and provided a scoring spark from beyond the arc throughout the day. Defensively, Ava showed strong anticipation and awareness, reading plays well and jumping passing lanes. One of her biggest moments came when she intercepted an inbound pass and quickly converted it into a basket that brought energy to her team. She also showed good court vision offensively, delivering a sharp pass out of the pick-and-roll to create a scoring opportunity for a teammate.
