Sofia will be a dynamic guard to watch at Ovid-Elsie this winter. She gave Team 3 an edge with her scrappy effort and confidence from three. Sofia catches passes ready to fire with her feet balanced. She drained a smooth corner three and added another moonshot from the wing that found nothing but net. Sofia shuffled quickly laterally to stop a drive, generated a steal, finished a fast-break layup in top gear, scored a tough, coast-to-coast layup, and took the ball strong to the basket to earn a trip to the line. She can facilitate as the lead guard, create space with her dribble, and find soft spots in the defense to ignite the offense. Sofia was a productive contributor for Team 3 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

One of the best under-the-radar point guard prospects that has the potential to turn some heads will be Sofia. She flexed her muscles while playing up with CCE on the PGH Circuit and was a frequent Top Performer. Compact physical build, shifty handles, hard-nosed drives to the basket, strong finisher, threat-point shooting, Sofia is a dynamic player who’s going to be an instant playmaker at the varsity level. I expect her to be a prospect who stands out at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Sofia, who played for Team 6 coached by KJ, was selected as the team’s MVP after a strong showing at the Alma Elite Camp. Sofia competed in a different gym during the 5-on-5 portion, so I didn’t get the opportunity to watch her in live action, but she made a strong impression during the skill work and drills. She shot the ball well during the shooting station while also showcasing good ball-handling and finishing ability. During the drills, Sofia was active defensively and showed she could get downhill and finish through traffic. Her performance throughout the afternoon earned her Team 6 MVP honors, as selected by Coach KJ.

Sofia put herself on our radar this spring on the PGH Circuit while playing up for CCE 17U. She ripped the nets consistently from three, split gaps with a burst off the dribble, and scored with strength at the rim. Sofia has a compact build, plays with balance, has the ball on a string, sees the floor, and works hard on the defensive end. She’ll be a commanding court general and playmaker in the backcourt for Ovid-Elsie immediately.

Sofia of CCE impressed during Saturday action at the PGH MI State Tournament while competing up several grade levels. Despite facing older competition, she played with confidence and made a strong impact from the perimeter by knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc. Sofia also showed good playmaking instincts, creating opportunities for teammates with strong drive-and-kick passes after attacking the defense. On the defensive end, she turned steals into offense, pushing the ball coast-to-coast for transition scoring opportunities. Her poise, shooting ability, and overall feel for the game stood out throughout the day.

Sofia played up with Capitol City Express 17U and put on a show today during the MBA Mother’s Day Classic. She has pinpoint accuracy from beyond the arc and was swishing threes from the corner. Sofia scored a tough left-handed layup high off the glass over a defender’s arm and switched hands comfortably in the lane with excellent body control. One of her highlight plays happened after intercepting a pass. She raced towards the rim, changed hands, and found a way to finish a contested layup with her left over the outstretched arms of a defender. Sofia made a great first impression today and is a name to remember.
