There is nothing like cutting down the nets on championship night. Heated rivalries, packed gyms, and pride on the line. This is Kentucky basketball at its absolute best, and the 21st District Tournament delivered all of it. High intensity from start to finish, big-time moments, and players stepping up when it mattered most. Every team battled, but only one could finish the job.

The tournament, hosted by Valley, opened with the host school setting the tone early. The Lady Vikings came out focused and ready, knocking off Fairdale 69-27. Their defensive pressure and ability to control the tempo proved to be the difference as they dictated the pace from start to finish and never allowed Fairdale to get comfortable offensively.

On the other side of the bracket, Pleasure Ridge Park defeated Holy Cross 69-29. The Lady Panthers battled on both ends of the floor, and it showed early this group was determined to make a championship push. Their energy defensively created transition opportunities, and they played with the confidence of a team that expected to be playing on championship night.

That set the stage for the anticipated title game, and PRP once again proved why they have been one of the top teams in the region. The Lady Panthers captured the championship with a convincing 77-54 victory to secure their first district title since 2024. Their balance, experience, rebounding, and defensive intensity were simply too much to handle as they capped off another dominant district run.

Here are some of the key players who made it happen.

Senior JaLaisah Hamblen erupted for 35 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. The powerful, elite scorer completely took over the championship game with her physicality around the rim, second chance finishes, and ability to score at all three levels. Hamblen consistently punished defenders in the paint while also showing touch from the perimeter and at the free throw line. She averaged 17.2 points per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field this season, along with a team-high 9.6 rebounds per game. Her motor, toughness, and ability to dominate both ends of the floor were a major reason PRP cut down the nets.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1279330' first='Kendra' last='Lee'] scored 22 points, including six three-pointers, while adding four rebounds. Lee's ability to stretch the floor changed the entire flow of the game, as she consistently knocked down big shots whenever Valley tried to make a run. She showed confidence all night shooting off the catch and in transition, and her spacing opened driving lanes for her teammates. Lee led the team in made three-pointers this season while averaging 8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Her perimeter shooting gave PRP another dangerous weapon throughout the tournament.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='874562' first='Marryah' last='Carr'] finished with 7 points and 8 rebounds. The super quick two-way point guard impacted the game far beyond the scoring column with her defensive pressure, pace, rebounding, and ability to create opportunities for teammates. Carr constantly pushed the tempo and made life difficult for opposing guards with her energy defensively. She averaged 20.6 points per game this season and added 4 rebounds per contest while serving as one of the leaders of the PRP attack. Her toughness and versatility were on full display during the championship run.

Valley had some notable performances in the championship game as well.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1228854' first='Miriam' last='Cooper'] finished with a team-high 18 points, including three made three-pointers, and grabbed 3 rebounds. Cooper kept Valley competitive with her shot-making ability and confidence offensively, knocking down perimeter shots and creating offense when the team needed it most. She showed toughness competing against constant defensive pressure and continued the strong season that saw her average 9.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while leading the team in made three-pointers. Her ability to score in bunches gave Valley a spark throughout the tournament.

Senior Leah Stinson scored 13 points in her final district championship appearance. Stinson put together an outstanding senior season, averaging 17 points per game while shooting over 49 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line. She played with great poise and consistency all year, providing leadership and offensive production every night. Stinson's ability to finish around the basket, knock down mid range shots, and lead by example made her one of the key pieces of Valley's success this season.

Senior Dicksaline Johnson contributed 8 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Johnson battled hard in the paint all night and provided toughness, energy, and physicality on the glass throughout the tournament. She consistently fought for extra possessions and anchored the interior defensively against one of the region's top frontcourts. Johnson finished the season averaging 10.2 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game, proving herself as one of Valley's most reliable and hard-working players all season long.
