The Takeover: Under the Radar Players

Here are five players that I didn't see coming before the tournament. They showed their worth with consistent play throughout the two day event. With all heading into their senior year, the timing couldn't be better for them to peak and impress a bunch of coaches this summer.

Alyssa was clicking from the outside from beyond the arc. I watched her make multiple three pointers off the catch and dribble. She also showed a nice touch from the midrange and was able to catch with her back to the basket, turn to square up and rise up into her shot. Playing at the level she did over the weekend is going to pay off during the evaluation period. I'm expecting her to have a huge senior season in high school.

Olivia listed as a power forward has true post size, however, she showed off some solid perimeter skill. She had a nice pump fake that suspended the defender taking it right into a pull-up jumper. She rebounder well using her length to get after loose balls. Defensively she guarded the interior as well as the perimeter, with the latter she was able to strip the ball and taking it in for a transition finish.

Zikora has nice length and is a superior athlete that moves around the court quickly and effortlessly. She uses her length well to attack and finish and she showed some handle taking the ball 3/4 court in transition for the finish while being chased down. She caught an elbow to the eye in game two or three but was able to come back the next day and pick up right where she left off.

Khloe was locked in and focused on the rim as she knocked down back to back corner three pointers while being highly contested. As a matter of fact it seemed as if every shot she took was contested from her three pointers to her transition drives. She continued to score and the shot was pure and always in rhythm. She didn't force anything and made the difficult shots look easy.

Mariann showed elite level athleticism and superior defense. She was harassing on the ball usually forcing the ball handler to pass or forcing a turnover. She had one play where she scored and was able to strip the offensive player getting a steal which she drove for a score to end the half. The series of plays proved to be a pivotal moment in the games outcome.
