Young Stars Illuminate the Southeast Region Finals

The Southeast Region Finals brought together top travel teams from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi for a loaded weekend of competition at Columbus State University. Several rising stars from the classes of 2031 and younger made their presence felt on Day 1, showcasing the talent, skill, and potential that make them names to know for the future. Here are a few I saw on Saturday:    Aj delivered one of the top scoring performances of the day, finishing with 24 points and impacting the game on both ends of the floor. She closed the first half in a big way, scoring her team's final five points, including a three-pointer at the buzzer that swung momentum heading into halftime. Her long frame and reach were constant factors defensively, allowing her to rack up deflections, blocks, and steals while making life difficult for opposing ball handlers. Offensively, Aj caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down threes at an impressive rate, while also showing the ability to attack the basket with a variety of combo moves and finishes. The blend of length, scoring ability, and defensive playmaking points to extremely high upside as she continues to develop.     Madison made plays all over the floor and impacted the game on both ends with her relentless energy and effort. She plays with a high motor and brings intensity on the defensive end by embracing the challenge of locking down opposing ball handlers with her quickness. Madison consistently anticipated the opposition's next move, allowing her to generate turnovers and disrupt offensive flow. Her competitiveness and defensive presence were impossible to miss throughout the game I watched.     Ryleigh already looks the part and possesses an impressive feel for the game that immediately stood out. The 2031 prospect was active on both ends, creating deflections and steals while consistently impacting the game with her instincts and anticipation. She showed advanced ball-handling ability for her age and displayed a smooth shooting stroke with great rotation on the ball. With her skill set, motor, and overall basketball IQ, Ryleigh is a young prospect who should quickly become a name to track in Florida's 2031 class.     Aliyah showcased a well-rounded offensive game and was one of the more skilled young guards on display. She possesses a really smooth stroke from beyond the arc and consistently looked comfortable stepping into perimeter shots. Beyond her shooting ability, she showed confidence putting the ball on the floor, attacking defenders, and finishing with a variety of moves around the basket. One of her best finishes came on a crafty scoop shot underneath the rim, highlighting her touch and creativity in traffic. With good size for her position and a strong handle that allows her to create space and get where she wants on the floor, Aliyah has the tools to be a very intriguing prospect moving forward.     Marley proved to be a tough cover, scoring in bunches and consistently putting pressure on the defense. She thrives when attacking downhill and uses her aggressiveness and confidence to get into the paint and create scoring opportunities. Once at the rim, Marley displayed a polished finishing package, converting through traffic and around defenders. She was equally impactful on the defensive end by generating multiple steals and taking the ball away from opposing handlers with active hands and strong anticipation. Her ability to create offense while disrupting opponents defensively made her one of the more productive players on the floor.     Ahmina put together one of the most impressive performances of Day 1 at the Southeast Region Finals. The young standout erupted for 24 points in her first game before following it up with another 20-point outing against a talented TN United Orange squad. Despite playing two grade levels up, Stokes looked completely comfortable against older competition, showcasing advanced scoring instincts and confidence with the ball in her hands. Her combination of size, length, and athleticism also made a major impact defensively, as she generated deflections and turnovers while disrupting opposing offenses. Stokes already looks like a special talent, and if Day 1 was any indication, her name is one that the girls basketball world will be hearing for years to come.     Kinsley is the type of player every coach wants on their team. The floor general plays with a high level of toughness and competitiveness, setting the tone on both ends of the floor. A scrappy defender, she consistently made hustle plays and never backed down from a challenge. What stands out most is her basketball IQ, as she routinely made the right reads and decisions even under heavy defensive pressure. Kinsley also showcased strong leadership and sportsmanship throughout a physical, hard-fought contest, maintaining her poise while helping guide her team. She is undoubtedly a young prospect worth tracking moving forward.
