Not all players get to see the Varsity floor as a Freshman for long periods of time and that's due to several reasons you could name. The important thing is that those players stay the course and have faith that their work during their off-season is going to pay off when they return the following year. In this article we talk about a few hoopers that should see some big Varsity minutes moving forward, after putting together respectable Freshman campaigns last Winter.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

CCA will have ample opportunity this Winter and Lydia Keller is going to have a chance to took over as their leader if she comes back into the season healthy and confident. Keller was a main piece for CCA last Winter in their success as a Freshman. She played off the ball most of the time and she made some timely shots throughout the year. She was a prospect that didn't need the ball for long periods of time to produce and that was vital. This time around she will need to play more of a centralized role. They will be bringing in an impressive 2030 Class but it's still going to be up to Keller and Evans to lead the pack.

Josie Austen will come into her Sophomore year as one of the taller prospects out of the 2029 Class. She is listed as a 6'1 SF and she had positive moments last Winter but nothing crazy. We expect that to change and we expect her role to grow as she does as a prospect. Austen has length for her position, she can move off the ball into open space whenever she isn't involved within the action of the play, she can finish through contact, and she rebounds steadily. Defensively - she is going to continue to get better but she does impact certain attempts in the lane by opponents with her height. We need to see more of Austen to go more in depth about her play-style but from what we have seen so far, she is definitely going to be a player to watch moving forward.

Next to Lydia Keller this season at CCA will be PG - Zella Evans. Evans saw spot minutes last Winter as a Freshman. At the start of the season, those minutes were sparing but by the time they go to the end the year - she was coming off the bench as their 6th women basically. Evans ability on both sides of the ball is natural. She has several intangibles to impact winning on her team and I think we are going to see that at a higher rate for her Sophomore season in a few months when she has more responsibility. Not to mention the way she can knock down shots is going to lead her to some places within this sport if she sticks with it. We saw that a few months ago and I'm sure we will see that again over the next three years throughout her high school career.

Maeve Ryan will be apart of a steady group at St. Albert over the next couple of years. Ryan, the 5'5 CG, stepped on the hardwood last Winter and held her own on all accounts. She outplayed most other 2029's that lined up across from her and she never let failure deter her from trying to make things happen during meaningful minutes. Ryan is going to turn into quite the player. Her older sister has it together as an upperclassmen at this point and I think Maeve is on that same trajectory at this point. She is going to be a source of energy once again for their group this upcoming season and I can't wait to see her standout every time she laces up her kicks.

It's certainly not crazy to think that Paige Pipho could lead her Varsity squad this Winter at Union LePorte City High School. Pipho has been a stud this Spring on the AAU floor with her Lady Martin Bro's program. Offensively, she is hitting shots off the catch from the outside, putting the rock on the ground and gettin others involved, all while being someone who can handle pressure coming from the opponent. Defensively, she moves her feet at a high rate and she would be considered scrappy more than anything else. Sometimes you need that in a prospect. If Pipho can continue to work during her down-time, I'm sure she will come back this Winter ready to rock at a higher rate than most.
