The first of two school team tournaments hosted by Mid America Youth Basketball (MAYB) is set to run June 6-7. Boys and girls varsity and JV teams from around the state annually attend. A couple teams from Nebraska and Oklahoma are also in the pools. For me, this event is a great opportunity to get early looks at teams from a variety of classifications. All games will be held at Wichita Sports Forum. Club teams also are competing this weekend. Broken down by age group those games will be played at Wichita's Edge Sports Complex.

[player_tooltip player_id='926681' first='Adelyn' last='Lee'], 5'4", PG/SG, Sacred Heart, 2027 - The Knights got into a groove late in the 2026 regular season and stormed through a strong field, including the top two ranked teams in the classification, to capture the 2A state title. A major reason why was the play of North Central Activities Conference first team "Addie" Lee. A shooter with a quick release and terrific range she and teammate Skylar Douglass combined for 10 three-pointers and 50 points overall to beat defending state champ Moundridge to reach the title game. While I have seen younger sister Emmy play this summer I am hopeful to take in Adelyn's game this weekend. Lee was also named first team all-state by Sports In Kansas and second team by KBCA, KSHSAACovered and can be caught running with [program_tooltip program_id='917083' first='SSA' last='Girls Hoops'] this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1866005' first='Grace' last='Leubbering'], 5'5", PG/CG, Chanute, 2029 - Leubbering's strong freshman season produced a Southeast Kansas League honorable mention selection for the Blue Comet guard. She is quick and versatile with the ball getting to the hole. It will be my be my first time seeing her play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1267812' first='Jacy' last='Proctor'], 6'1", PF/C, Hesston, 2028 - The consensus 3A all-state honorable mention selection also earned second team honors in the Central Kansas League this past season after making her second trip to the state tournament. Consistently showing a well-rounded game on both ends of the floor she has emerged a team leader among the group of young bigs the Swathers put on the floor. Proctor is one of 3A's top prospects in the class and and will be attracting collegiate attention as the summer continues. Athletic, physical, solid hands, good speed, scores it well and is a force on the boards and on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1866004' first='Kate' last='Uhner'], 5'7", PG, Chanute, 2029 - Uhner had a strong freshman season that resulted in her selection to the Southeast Kansas League second team as well as picking up KBCA and Sports In Kansas 4A honorable mention nods. She plays along side sister Sarah with [program_tooltip program_id='715510' first='365' last='Hoops Elite'] and this will be my first chance to see the Blue Comet playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id='924540' first='Sarah' last='Uhner'], 5'3", SG, Chanute, 2027 - The two-time Southeast Kansas Leaguer is also a returning two-time 4A honorable mention pick by KSHSAACovered and Sports In Kansas. Not since late summer 2024 with [program_tooltip program_id='715510' first='365' last='Hoops Elite'] have I had the opportunity to watch her play. Colleges always look for fast, athletic guards who can shoot it. The ball handlers that joined her this past season commanded a great deal of attention, freeing to play less at the point to drop bombs with range. Uhner sees extra floor time during the summer with younger sister Kate playing with [program_tooltip program_id='715510' first='365' last='Hoops Elite'].

[player_tooltip player_id='892386' first='Harper' last='Vaughn'], 5'7", PG, Colby, 2027 - Vaughn is the most experienced returning Trojan and was a integral part of their 2025 3A state semi-final run. She picked up Great West Activities Conference second team honors following the 2026 season. Vaughn is known to be a smart floor leader who sees the floor and attacks downhill well. It has been a year plus since I have seen her.

[player_tooltip player_id='1865999' first='Jaden' last='Williams'], 5'4", CG, Hesston, 2027 - The Swather guard picked up Sports In Kansas 3A and Central Kansas League honorable mention honors. Used to the tough schedule Hesston plays Williams has consistently shown speed, quickness and the willingness to defend top point guards. I will be looking to get a sense of where her offensive game is especially now that terrific point guard Callie Yoder has graduated.
